BILLINGS, Mont. – 2008 PBR World Champion Guilherme Marchi (Itupeva, Brazil) wrote his name into the history books when he became the first cowboy in history to ride 600 bulls on the elite Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS). The historic ride came in Round 2 of the Stanley Performance In Action Invitational, presented by Cooper Tires, Saturday night at the Rimrock Auto Arena in Billings, Montana.

Marchi covered Shocker (D&H Cattle Co.) for 86.25 points for career ride No. 600. The 14-year veteran is the PBR’s all-time leader in qualified rides, and has a 55.18 career riding percentage in the BFTS. He has also collected $4,901,979 in career earnings.

The closest to Marchi in qualified rides is 2004 PBR World Champion Mike Lee (Decatur, Texas) with 519. Lee joined Marchi as only the second rider to record 500 qualified rides on the PBR’s top-flight tour last year in Billings.

Marchi’s ride also propelled him into a three-way tie for fourth place in Round 2, netting him 28.33 world points and $916.

Montana’s own Matt Triplett (Columbia Falls, Montana) ended Saturday night taking the win in Round 2 after an 88.25-point ride on Red Sails in the Sunset (Dakota Rodeo-Berger/Struve/Heald). The round win came on the heels of Triplett’s first BFTS event win in two years last weekend in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and it awarded Triplett with 100 points toward the world standings and $3,580.

Kaique Pacheco (Itatiba, Brazil) took second place in Round 2 after riding DaNutso (D&H Cattle Co./Buck Cattle/Erwin Cattle) for 87.75 points. The ride was Pacheco’s first since Round 2 in Sioux Falls, and it helped him earn 60 points toward the world standings and a $2,750 paycheck.

Shane Proctor (Grand Coulee, Washington) finished in third place Saturday night after scoring 86.5 points aboard Sketchy Bob (D&H Cattle Co./Flinn) for his second ride of the weekend. For the finish, Proctor picked up 50 points toward the world standings and $2,000.

Two-time PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, North Carolina) and Gage Gay (Statesville, North Carolina) tied with Marchi for fourth place after their own 86.25-point rides. Mauney covered Buck John (Rocking I Rodeo Co.) while Gay reached 8 seconds on Can’t Get Right (New West Rodeos) in Round 2. Mauney and Gay joined four other riders as the only cowboys to cover both bulls they’ve seen in Billings this weekend. Mauney heads into Championship Sunday leading the event average.

Both riders earned 28.33 points toward the world standings and $916.

The Top 35 bull riders in the world will return to Rimrock Arena one last time for Championship Sunday of the Stanley Performance in Action Invitational, presented by Cooper Tires, tomorrow afternoon. Each rider will face one more bull in Round 3 before the Top 15 move on to the Built Ford Tough Championship Round where a winner will be crowned.

Championship Sunday action will begin at 3:30 p.m. ET on PBR LIVE and the PBR LIVE app. CBS Sports Network will also broadcast Championship Sunday starting at 4 p.m. ET.
