Mauney Takes Over No. 1 Spot

THACKERVILLE, Okla. – More than 12,000 fans, including a PBR (Professional Bull Riders) record-breaking, capacity crowd of 7,000 fans on Saturday, watched 2013 PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney turn in the two highest-marked rides of the two-day WinStar World Casino and Resort Invitational, brought to you locally by Sonic, to win second place at the event and take over the No. 1 position in the PBR world standings.

Mauney came into the weekend 167.5 points behind then-No. 1 man Joao Ricardo Vieira and ends the weekend 252.5 points ahead of Vieira with only four events left until the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Oct. 21-25.

Mauney won the Built Ford Tough Championship Round on Saturday with a 92.25-point ride on SweetPro’s Long John (D&H Cattle Company) and Round 1 on Friday night with a 90.5-point ride on Red Moon (Holmes/Jackson/Flyin S) to pick up 440 world standings points and $22,980.

Eduardo Aparecido was the only rider to go 3-for-3 on the weekend to win the WinStar World Casino and Resort Invitational event title.

He took sixth place in Round 1 with an 87.25-point ride on Johnny’s Boy (Ludtke Bucking Bulls LLC / The Jaynes Gang) and Round 2 with an 85.25-point ride on Deja Voodoo (Flying S Bucking Bulls/Dozier).

Aparecido then claimed second place in the championship round with 87.75 points on No Regrets (D&H Cattle Company), earning a total of 460 points towards the PBR world standings and $37,000 for the win.

The victory is Aparecido’s first since a first-place finish in Nampa, Idaho, in 2014.

Third place in the event went to Cody Nance, who finished second in Round 1 and third in the aggregate for a total of 270 world standings points.

Rookie Mason Lowe finished in fourth place, his highest finish since his third-place showing in Nampa in April. Fabiano Vieira rounded out the Top 5 in the event..

With a bull score of 45.25 out of 50 points, D&H Cattle Co.’s Stone Soberand SweetPro’s Long John tied for the Salem Nationalease High-marked Bull award in Thackerville.

Stone Sober unseated Renato Nunes in 5.21 seconds and SweetPro’s Long John helped Mauney earn the highest marked ride of the event.

Thackerville was the 22nd stop on the 2015 Built Ford Tough Series. With only four regular-season events left until the end of the 2015 BFTS, the riders will be hanging tough to qualify for the $2.3 million 2015 Built Ford Tough World Finals. This season culminating event takes place Oct. 21-25 in Las Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Center. A $1 million dollar bonus and the coveted PBR World Champion’s belt buckle await the man who earns the most world standings points in 2015. Tickets are on sale now at unlvtickets.com.
