Mauney Wins Battle at the Beau in Biloxi

BILOXI, Miss. – A monster ride by 2013 PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney in the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Built Ford Tough Championship Round on Saturday night at the Battle at the Beau, brought to you locally by Sonic, in Biloxi, Mississippi, at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum gave the 28-year old his second win of the 2015 Built Ford Tough Series season and moved him to No. 2 in the PBR world standings.

Mauney’s 92-point ride aboard Percolator (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls) allowed him to go 3-for-3 for just the second time this year. It was his first 90-point ride this season.

Mauney earned 595 world points on the weekend with his fourth-place finish in Round 1, his second-place tie in Round 2 and first-place performance in the championship round. He had an aggregate total ride score of 265 points and earned a paycheck of $39,175.00 for the win.  The Mooresville, North Carolina, bull rider is now 265 points ahead of former No. 2 Matt Triplett, and 782.50 points behind current leader Joao Ricardo Vieira.

Fabiano Vieira’s 8-second ride aboard Walk Off (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls) for 89.25 points in the championship round earned him 335 points toward the world standings points as he finished in second place.

Vieira covered all three of his bulls, taking seventh in Round 1, tying for second with Mauney in Round 2 and capturing second place in the championship round.

Aaron Roy placed third overall for his highest finish this season since returning full time to the BFTS after the broken back he suffered at the 2013 Calgary Stampede. Roy earned 230 points towards the world standings with this performance.

Finishing in fourth place was Round 2 winner, J.W. Harris. Harris walked away with 145 world points for the weekend, while Nathan Schaper, the Round 1 winner finished in fifth place and earned 120 world points.

With a bull score of 45.25 out of 50 points, Percolator and Little Red Jacket (J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls/Gene Owens) tied as the Salem NationaLease High-marked Bull in Biloxi. Despite Mauney putting up 92 points aboard the chocolate brown bull, Percolator was still impressive enough to earn the high score. To earn his top ranking points, Little Red Jacket dispatched Harris in the championship round in 4.27 seconds.

Round 2 and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round of the Battle at the Beau will air on CBS Sports Network, the home of the PBR, on Sunday, Aug. 9, at 6 p.m. ET.

Biloxi is one of 27 cities visited on the 2015 PBR Built Ford Tough Series schedule.
