NAMPA, Idaho – Two-time reigning PBR (Professional Bull Riders) World Champion J.B. Mauney made the race for the 2016 World Championship even tighter after a 92.5-point ride on Stone Sober (D&H Cattle Co./Buck Cattle Co.) in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round to win the DeWalt Flexvolt Invitational Saturday night at the Ford Idaho Center.

The ride capped off a 2-for-3 performance for Mauney, who picked up 505 points toward the world standings. The win was Mauney’s first Built Ford Tough Series event victory of the season.

The No. 3 bull rider in the world standings now trails current world leader Kaique Pacheco by 700.33 points with only two regular-season events left until the 2016 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas Nov. 2-6.

Cooper Davis also helped his case for the 2016 World Championship by finishing second in Idaho, picking up 385 points toward the world standings. Davis went 2-for-3, including an 89-point ride on Thunderbolt (Dakota Rodeo/Berger/Scott) to win Round 2. He was later bucked off by Little Red Jacket (J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls/Gene Owen) in the championship round.

The No. 2 bull rider in the world standings trails Pacheco by 490.33 points.

Marco Eguchi finished strong Saturday night in third place. Eguchi went 2-for-3, including an 85.75-point ride on Stars & Stripes (Dakota Rodeo/Berger/Struve) in Round 2. Eguchi was later bucked off by Torch (J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls/Gene Owen) in the championship round, but he still earned 270 points toward the world standings for the finish. Eguchi leaves Idaho the 27th ranked bull rider in the world.

Chase Outlaw finished in fourth place, earning 142.5 points toward the world standings. Outlaw was bucked off by Hou’s Jacket (H-M Bucking Bulls) in the championship round but otherwise went a solid 2-for-3.

Shane Proctor rounded out the Top 5, picking up 110 world points. Proctor holds steady at 10th place in the world standings.

The Top 35 bull riders in the world will make their way to San Jose, California, for the San Jose Invitational, presented by Ariat, Oct. 15-16.

Following Round 2 on Saturday, the sport’s top bovine athletes and best bull riders will compete in a special round of competition, the PBR’s ninth 15/15 Bucking Battle of the season. The series’ Top 15 riders will be randomly matched against the 15 highest-ranked bulls in this round, competing for bonus points which count towards the PBR world standings and a total purse of $21,000.

As the penultimate regular-season event until the Built Ford Tough World Finals, riders will be looking to position themselves in the world standings to give themselves a shot at the world title in Las Vegas so competition will be the fiercest it has been all season.

CBS Sports will feature all PBR 15/15 Bucking Battle action on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 3 p.m. or 5 p.m. ET, check your local listings. CBS Sports Network will broadcast Round 2 and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round on Sunday night at 6 p.m. ET.

Fans can also watch each round in real time on PBR LIVE. PBR LIVE is available at no charge to all fans and media. Visit www.PBR.com/live to view. Fans can also watch all of the action via the PBR LIVE app, available for download now on Google Play and iTunes.

Nampa was the 24th stop on the 2016 BFTS schedule. The season will conclude at the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Nov. 2-6 at Las Vegas’ new T-Mobile Arena where the 2016 PBR World Champion, the bull rider who earns the most points during the 2016 season, will be crowned and receive the coveted World Championship belt buckle and a $1 million bonus.

The BFTS is televised every week on CBS, CBS Sports Network and networks around the world. Television ratings for PBR on CBS are up more than 33 percent this season compared to last year at this time, according to Nielsen. BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.
