Mike White Joins CBR Road to Cheyenne Broadcast Team
Who better to commentate on the Real Cowboy Sport than a real cowboy?
The 1999 Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) and 2002 Championship Bull Riding (CBR) World Champion bull rider makes his television broadcast debut tonight on the CBR Fox Sports broadcast as the 2016-17 CBR Road to Cheyenne tour airs on FS2 at 9 pm (EST).
Mike White has a great reputation and a strong presence and he will be a great addition to the CBR brand,” said Jeff Medders of Geronimo Productions who produces the CBR Road to Cheyenne on Fox.
White joins the broadcast team of Jeff Medders, Cody Whitney, Tuff Hedeman, and Ali Dee and is expected to provide an insider’s view from the arena both on riders and on the CBR’s Bull Team Challenge Competition.
Characterized by his friends and opponents as a strong competitor on both sides of the chutes, White brings a unique perspective to the audience as he is a world champion both riding and flanking bucking bulls.
After over fifteen years and earnings in excess of $1,000,000 “Mighty Mike White” retired from riding bulls in 2010 and began raising, training, and competing with bucking bulls. In 2013, Mike White’s bull team, B & M, won the first CBR Bull Team Challenge competition World Finals at Cheyenne Frontier Days.
White was raised on a ranch in Louisiana and has always thought of himself as a cowboy. He grew up enjoying hog hunting, and roping – when he and his brother were not riding bulls. White spent thirteen years riding in the PBR where he was ranked in the top 20 for five years (2002-2008). He qualified for both the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and the PBR World Finals in 1999 and was the first CBR World Champion in 2002. In 2013 he was inducted into the PBR Ring of Honor.
A broken neck, shattered ankle and broken arm are among a few of his career injuries, but he earned the nickname “Mighty Mike White” for the ability to always gut it out and return to the arena a little bit tougher each time.
“I love the sport, being a cowboy, that’s just what we do – we’re cowboys,” said Mike White.
