Montanha Wins RVT Event in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – In just his fourth PBR (Professional Bull Riders) event, Claudio Marcelino Montanha (Ribeirao Indios, Brazil) won the Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) event in Youngstown, Ohio, at Covelli Center on Saturday night.

In front of a rambunctious, sold-out crowd, Montanha won the event after going 3-for-3 over the two days. On Saturday, he rode Richard (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) in Round 2 for 86 points before reaching 8 seconds aboard Gypsy Wind (J Bar W Ranch) in the championship round, earning 86 points. He earned 80 points towards the PBR World Standings along with $6,000.

Winners of each RVT event in 2017 will be guaranteed at least one opportunity to compete at a PBR Built Ford Tough Series regular-season event. Due to his victory in Youngstown, Montanha will compete at the Frontier Communications Iron Cowboy event in Arlington, Texas, on Feb. 18.

Also, going 3-for-3, Robson Aragao (Aracaju, Brazil) earned 50 world points along with $4,300. Aragao had ride scores of 78, 80 and 88.5 points in the event. On Saturday, his 88.5-point ride aboard Lab Rat (Cornwell Bucking Bulls) helped him solidify his second-place finish.

Josh Faircloth (Randleman, North Carolina) also went 3-for-3 to finish in third place with rides of 85 points on Calico Kid (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) and 86 points on Jake Brake (J Bar W Ranch) Saturday night. With his finish Faircloth earned 30 points towards the world standings along with $3,000.

Jay Miller (Liberty, South Carolina), Cody Rodeo Tyler (Guthrie, Oklahoma) and Brennon Eldred (Sulphur, Oklahoma) finished in fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. Miller earned 20 world points along with $2,300, Tyler earned 15 world points along with $1,400 and Eldred earned 10 world points along with $960.

Pink Cadillac from Cornwell Bucking Bulls was the high-marked bull of the event with a score of 44.5.

The Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour will next be in Roanoke, Virginia on Jan. 27-28 at the Berglund Center.

The 2017 Velocity Tour will culminate with the Velocity Tour Finals at South Point Arena in Las Vegas on Oct. 28-30, leading into the PBR’s 2017 Built Ford Tough World Finals.
