More Bull Riders Added to PBR Champions Challenge

PUEBLO, Colo. (May 27, 2015) — PBR (Professional Bull Riders) legend J.W. “Iron Man” Hart has put together a terrific lineup for his annual J.W. Hart PBR Challenge, which takes place this weekend, May 30, in Decatur, Texas.

Originally scheduled to present a BlueDEF Velocity Tour event; the much-anticipated Ring of Honor: Unfinished Business presented by BlueDEF competition, showcasing PBR legends returning to the chutes for one final ride; and current PBR World Champions in the winner-take-all World Champions Challenge, the event lineup will now feature a twist.

The “toughest sport on dirt” encompasses the most dangerous 8 seconds in sports, with an injury occurring in approximately every 15 outs. This danger and unpredictability has given a new face to the Champions Challenge.

In addition to witnessing active PBR World Champions and PRCA Bull Riding Champions competing against each other for a potential $50,000 total purse, fans will now also have an opportunity to see PBR World Champions J.B. Mauney (2013), Renato Nunes (2010), Mike Lee (2004) and 2011 PRCA champion Shane Proctor square off against bull riders from the Top 10 of PBR’s current world standings.

The full competition roster now includes: Mauney, Nunes, Lee, Proctor, Matt Triplett, Kaique Pacheco, Valdiron de Oliveira, Reese Cates and Fabiano Vieira.

After only one ride each, the highest scoring rider will win $30,000 and the opportunity to ride 2015 PBR World Champion Bull contender Sweet Pro’s Long John (D&H Cattle Co.) for an additional $20,000.

“Unfortunate injuries to Silvano Alves, Guilherme Marchi and J.W. Harris, gave us an opportunity to expand the competition field,” Jay Daugherty, PBR Sr. Vice President, Competition said. “Now fans can watch the very best of the best ride it out. The winner will have to step up, accept the challenge and produce the ride of the night in order to win. This format makes for even better entertainment.”

On May 30, the new Champions Challenge will be the second event featured on pay-per-view, following the J.W. Hart PBR Challenge BlueDEF Velocity Tour and before the Built Ford Tough Ring of Honor: Unfinished Business, presented by BlueDEF, events.

The Long John ride attempt will take place following the Unfinished Business portion fo the pay-per-view.

All of the bull riding action can only be seen on PPV live starting at 8 p.m. ET. Customers of DISH Satellite, DirecTV, and Vubiquity affiliates AT&T Uverse, Verizon FiOS, and Armstrong Cable, can purchase the broadcast now. Fans worldwide can also watch the competition on the Flipps mobile app, which is available for download free at iTunes and Google Play.
