Nance Wins Night One of Sean Willingham Invitational

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Cody Nance (Paris, Tennessee) dazzled his home-state crowd as he took the win in night one of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) Sean Willingham Invitational, presented by Monster Energy & Circle K, Friday night at the UTC McKenzie Arena.

Nance, the No. 16 ranked bull rider in the world, went 2-for-2 Friday in Chattanooga. He started his evening with an 84-point ride on Heart Break (Martinez Bucking Bulls, LLC) in Round 1 before going on to win the championship round with an 87.5-point ride on Jug Head (Rickey West Bucking Bulls).

The event is broken down into two separate long and championship rounds and the winner of the event will be the rider with the highest two-score aggregate score from either Friday or Saturday.

Two-time PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney (Statesville, North Carolina) finished in second on night one after his own 2-for-2 performance. Mauney covered EHV’s Hornet’s Nest (Davis Rodeo Ranch/Waller Bros) for 85 points in Round 1 before reaching 8 seconds aboard Bugle Boy (Rickey West Bucking Bulls) for 86 points in the championship round.

Chase Outlaw (Hamburg, Arkansas), currently No. 5 in the PBR world standings, finished in third place. Outlaw also went 2-for-2 Friday night, beginning with an 86.5-point ride on Chism Trail (Smith/Harper & Morgan) to win Round 1 before closing with an 83-point trip on Buccaneer (Rickey West Bucking Bulls) in the championship round.

2012 PRCA champion, and current No. 13 in the PBR world standings, Cody Teel (Kountze, Texas) came in fourth place. Teel opened his Friday night with an 85-point ride on Bad Black (Smith/Harper & Morgan) in Round 1 before being bucked off by Schizophrenic (Rickey West Bucking Bulls) in the championship round.

Australian Cody Heffernan (Singleton, Australia) rounded out the Top 5 in night one. Heffernan rode Blues Man (Davis Rodeo Ranch) for 82.5 points in Round 1 before eventually being bucked off by Shark Bait (Rickey West Bucking Bulls/2R Bucking Bulls) in the championship round.

Bam Bam Bigelo (Rickey West Bucking Bulls) and Schizophrenic tied for the high-marked bull of the night after turning in matching 43.5-point bull scores.

Night two of the Sean Willingham Invitational, presented by Monster Energy & Circle K, will begin Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour will also compete in Des Moines, Iowa, in the Des Moines Chute Out Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

The 2017 Velocity Tour will culminate with the Velocity Tour Finals at South Point Arena in Las Vegas on Oct. 28-30, leading into the PBR’s Built Ford Tough World Finals, Nov. 1-5 at T-Mobile Arena.
