PUEBLO, Colo. — Netflix, the world’s leading Internet television network, will premiere an original six-part documentary series, Fearless, on Friday, August 19, 2016, exclusively to Netflix members worldwide.
The Netflix original series follows the unique lives of the top Brazilian riders competing in Professional Bull Riders (PBR) from the massive Barretos event in São Paulo to the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas. The series release date coincides with the start of the second half of the 2016 PBR Built Ford Tough Series season in Nashville with the Music City Knockout.
Over six episodes, we meet the world’s best bull riders and learn what motivates them to try to conquer ornery, raging bulls bred to buck. Through a serialized look inside this growing global sport now available in a half billion homes worldwide, viewers are enmeshed in a tight-knit community as its top athletes chase a championship. At the heart of the series are the PBR’s 1,500-lb. bovine celebrities, each bull with its own distinctive personality, rank temperament, and powerful athleticism.
“Fearless provides a fascinating, intimate look into professional bull riding,” said Sean Gleason, CEO of PBR and co-producer of the series. “As the PBR season unfolds, we are drawn into the world of a courageous band of brothers in a strange land doing what they love most while confronting mental, emotional, and physical challenges. This exquisitely shot documentary paints a vivid, multi-dimensional picture of the gritty athletes drawn to a beautiful, punishing sport that continues to grow in popularity.”
Fearless is a Netflix production. David Broome (The Biggest Loser, The Briefcase) served as executive producer, Andrew Fried (Chef’s Table) as showrunner, and Michael Warren as director.
