News & Notes from the Rodeo Trail, May 7

The next PRCA Rodeo Camp will be May 19 in Dayton, Iowa. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (CT). Registration is required at www.prorodeo.com/prorodeo/rodeo/youth-rodeo.

Jerry L. Green, a PRCA Gold Card member, of Hayden, Colo., passed away March 1. He was 76. Green competed in tie-down roping and team roping. Green joined the Rodeo Cowboys Association in 1962 and placed at Cheyenne (Wyo.) Frontier Days, Greeley (Colo.) Stampede, Rodeo de Santa Fe (N.M.). He qualified for two Mountain States Circuit Finals and was the first Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series tie-down roping champion in 1984. Green married Judy Herskind in 1969, and they worked side by side on the family’s ranch raising commercial cattle for 48 years. He is survived by Judy; his sister, Sally (Lee) Williamson; two nephews, a niece and numerous cousins.

Legendary rodeo saddle maker and former PRCA competitor Dave Dahl of Fort Pierre, S.D., will be inducted into the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame at Tjaden Terrace in Medora, June 16. The class also includes bareback rider Larry Sandvik, a 12-time qualifier for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, and saddle bronc rider Nevada Jorgenson.

Steve Kenyon and ProRodeoLive.com will broadcast the Mineral Wells (Texas) Rodeo, May 10-12. Each broadcast will begin at 7:30 p.m. (CT).
