BILOXI, Miss. – Two-time PBR World Champion Silvano Alves went 3-for-3 at the Professional Bull Riders Battle at the Beau presented by Kawasaki, part of the 2014 Built Ford Tough Series in Biloxi, Mississippi, at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum to finish in third place and vault himself to No. 2 in the PBR world standings.
Alves’s 86.75-point ride on Wreck it Ralph in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round helped to pull him within 1,034 points of world leader Joao Ricardo Vieira, who covered two of his three bulls to finish in fifth place in Biloxi. With the effort, Vieira maintained his top spot in the world standings.
An 89.75-point effort on Jack Daniel’s After Party in the championship round propelled veteran Valdiron de Oliveira to the win in Biloxi, his second event win of the 2014 BFTS season. His 3-for-3 performance resulted in a $36,175 payday and earned him 724 points, moving him into the Top 15 in the world standings at No. 12.
“I feel really good right now,” Oliveira said. “I’m in good shape and have been doing my rehab at home, which helps to keep me healthy.”
Claudio Crisostomo the leader heading into the championship round, concluded the night with 88.25 points on Crack the Whip to come up just shy of the win, finishing second, only three quarters of a point behind Oliveira. Crisostomo finished with 258.75 points on three bulls to Oliveira’s 259.5 points.
Cody Nance, who entered the weekend ranked 10th in the world standings, finished fourth by covering two bulls for a combined 174 points.
Asteroid, the 2012 PBR World Champion Bull, was the Salem NationaLease High-Marked Bull of the event with a 47-point effort in bucking off Chase Outlaw in the championship round. Jared Allen’s Air Time is the only other bull to earn 47 points or higher this year, achieving the feat twice.
Rookie of the Year leader Gage Gay took the Round 2 win with an 88-point effort on Brass Rain and finished ninth overall.

Next weekend, the BFTS stops in Allentown, Pa., on Oct. 10-11, for Cooper Tires Take the Money and Ride presented by PBR at the PPL Center. The event begins at 8 p.m. ET on Friday and 7 p.m. ET on Saturday.
