Outlaw Wins Velocity Tour Event in Santa Barbara

Chase Outlaw moved to No. 5 in the world standings after his win in Santa Barbara.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Chase Outlaw (Hamburg, Arkansas) earned the buckle at the PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) Old Spanish Days Fiesta Horse Show & Rodeo at the Earl Warren Show Grounds Thursday night.

The 2016 Velocity Tour Champion captured the win after scoring 86.5 points aboard Low Jack (Culp Bucking Bulls) in Round 1, and an 88-point ride Indian Medicine (Julio Moreno / Dallas Schott) in the championship round. The No. 5 ranked bull rider in the world will be going home with 80 world points and $7,168.26.

Outlaw is currently 183.34 points behind No. 4 Jess Lockwood (Volborg, Montana), and 1,048.34 points behind current world leader Eduardo Aparecido.

Lockwood finished second in the event after covering Cold Blood (Culp Bucking Bulls) for 81 points in Round 1 and Mortimer (Julio Moreno / Dallas Schott) for 90.5 points to win the championship round. The 19-year-old will leave California with 50 points toward the world standings and $4,812.98.

Taylor Toves (Stephenville, Texas) took both third- and fifth-place after double-entering the event. The 24-year-old rode Monster (Leffew Bucking Bulls) for 80 points and Blackout (Julio Moreno / Dallas Schott) for 85 points in Round 1. He was later bucked off by Lucifer (Julio Moreno / Dallas Schott) in the championship round. Toves earned a total of 45 world points and $4546.73 for the effort.

Ramon De Lima (Antioch, Brazil) finished in fourth place after scoring 80 points on the back of Ice Man (Julio Moreno / Dallas Schott) in Round 1 and 86 points on Hell Pony (Julio Moreno / Dallas Schott) in the championship round. Lima earned $1,740.86 and 20 points towards world standings.

Lima is currently tied for No. 38 in the world standings and is 27.5 points away from breaking into the Top 35 in the world.

The Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour will next head to Allen, Texas, for the Silvano Alves Challenge Benefitting Boots for Troops on August 6 at the Allen Event Center.

The 2017 Velocity Tour will culminate with the Velocity Tour Finals at South Point Arena in Las Vegas on Oct. 28-30, leading into the PBR’s Built Ford Tough World Finals, Nov. 1-5 at T-Mobile Arena.
