NASHVILLE – Through the first two rounds of the Frontier Communications Music City Knockout, presented by Cooper Tires and brought to fans locally by Sonic, defending PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney’s (Statesville, North Carolina) 90.25-point ride on Texicali (J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls/Gene Owens) was the highest score of the night and advanced him into Round 3 Friday night at Bridgestone Arena.

Mauney, currently second in the world standings, eliminated rookie Nevada Newman (Melstone, Montana) to advance. Mauney will attempt Alligator Arms (Jeff Robinson) opposite Jess Lockwood (Volborg, Montana) who will take on I’m a Gangster Too (Jeff Robinson) on Saturday night in Round 3.

Current world No. 1 and 2015 Rookie of the Year Kaique Pacheco (Itatiba, Brazil) also advanced Friday night as his 85-point ride on Legal Tender (Rockin’ I Rodeo Company) was enough to defeat his mentor and three-time World Champion Silvano Alves (Pilar do Sul, Brazil).

In total, 17 riders turned in qualified rides, with 12 advancing to Round 3. The Round 3 matchups are as follows:

Fabiano Vieira on Moto Moto vs. Marco Eguchi on Midnight Train
Joao Ricardo Vieira on Sheep Creek vs. Lachlan Richardson on The Don
J.B. Mauney on Alligator Arms vs. Jess Lockwood on I’m A Gangster Too
Paulo Lima on Little Red Jacket vs. Cooper Davis on Red Moon
Kaique Pacheco on Hornet’s Nest vs. Tanner Byrne on Hot Spot
Eduardo Aparecido on Fire Bender vs. Nathan Schaper on Bad Apple

The PBR’s best will return Saturday night for the conclusion of the Frontier Communications Music City Knockout. Tomorrow will also feature the Second Chance Bracket, which gives the riders eliminated in Rounds 1 and 2 with the highest scores or buck off times one more shot at advancing to the final.

The last two riders left standing will face current World Champion Bull contenders, and Bad Boy Mowers Bounty Bulls, Pearl Harbor (Dakota Rodeo/Berger-Struve) and Jared Allen’s Air Time with an extra $75,000 on the line. The action resumes at 7:50 p.m. ET on Saturday.

CBS Sports Network will broadcast the second night of the event at 10:00 p.m. ET while CBS Sports will feature the final rides of the event on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. ET. Fans can also watch each round live on PBR LIVE.
