Pacheco Wins 15/15 Bucking Battle in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fifteen riders went into the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) 15/15 Bucking Battle at the Kansas City Invitational, presented by Express Employment Professionals, but only one emerged from the field when Kaique Pacheco rode his way to victory Saturday night at Sprint Center.

Pacheco claimed the victory in the special round after an 86.75-point ride on Moto Moto. It was Pacheco’s first 15/15 Bucking Battle victory of 2017 and his first since Eugene, Oregon, last season. For his effort, Pacheco earned 150 world points and $21,000. Pacheco moved into 4th place in the world standings and trails current world leader Jess Lockwood by 932.5 points.

Aside from Pacheco’s ride, the bulls were dominant in the special round, bucking off the other 14 riders. Pearl Harbor highlighted the bull power, posting a 46.25-point bull score for his 6.67 second buckoff of Rubens Barbosa.

Earlier in the evening, 2016 World Champion Cooper Davis claimed the win in Round 1 Saturday night. Davis rode Bezerk for 87.75 points and earned 100 points toward the world standings and $3,580. The reigning World Champion currently sits at 7th in the world standings and trails Lockwood by 1135 points.

Eduardo Aparecido finished in second place in Round 1 after an 86.75-point trip aboard Switch Hitter. Aparecido earned 60 points toward the world standings and $2,750.

Last week’s winner in Anaheim, California, Shane Proctor continued his streak and claimed third place in Round 1. Proctor rode Red Fury for 86.25 points, he earned 50 world points and a $2,000 paycheck. Proctor has ridden five of his last 10 bulls faced.

Stetson Lawrence claimed fourth place in Round 1 after an 86-point ride on Bad Water. For his effort, Lawrence picked up 40 points toward the world standings and $1,300.

Ryan Dirteater rounded out the Top 5 after an 85.5-point ride on Whiskey. Dirteater earned 30 points toward the world standings and $850.

The Top 35 bull riders in the world will return to Spring Center one more time for Round 2 of the Kansas City Invitational, presented by Express Employment Professionals. Each rider will face one more bull in Round 2 before the Top 15 will move on to the Built Ford Tough Championship Round where the winner will be crowned.

The action from the 15/15 Bucking Battle will be broadcast on CBS starting at 12 p.m. ET.

Fans can see Round 2 on PBR LIVE starting at 2:15 p.m. ET. Round 2 and the championship round can also be seen on CBS Sports Network starting at 8 p.m. ET.
