Panhandle State to Host Annual Saddle Bronc and Bareback Schools

The Deke Latham Memorial Bronc Riding School will be hosted at the Lynn Gardner Rodeo Arena here in Goodwell, Okla., May 10-13.

Goodwell, Okla. — The Saddle Bronc Riding has been painted in red and blue all season long as the competitors in each short round of the Central Plains Region college rodeos have been mainly from Oklahoma Panhandle State University. The team has won the individual year-end titles in both the Saddle Bronc Riding and the Bareback Riding mainly because of all the opportunities offered here at Panhandle State. Once again the Bronc Riding Capital will be hosting their annual Saddle Bronc Riding and Bareback Riding schools this upcoming weekend.

The Deke Latham Memorial Bronc Riding School will be hosted at the Lynn Gardner Rodeo Arena here in Goodwell, Okla., May 10-13. A list of renowned instructors will be teaching the school including, all three Etbauer brothers, who have made several trips to the National Finals Rodeo, former coach Craig Latham, Bret Franks, Tyrel Larsen, and other alumni.

Orin Larsen’s Bareback Riding School will be going on in the same arena in Goodwell, May 12-13.

Also, Orin Larsen’s Bareback Riding School will be going on in the same arena in Goodwell, May 12-13. Orin Larsen is a two-time College Champion Bareback Rider and a three-time National Finals Rodeo Qualifier. It is an honor to consider this cowboy a Panhandle State Alumni and we are very thankful for the time he dedicates to this school every year.

These two schools bring in a large crowd of rodeo athletes every year who are eager to learn from the best.

Panhandle State Head Rodeo Coach Robert Etbauer said, “It’s a good place for kids to come learn how to ride Broncs. We have a lot of good teachers and a lot of good stock.”
