PBR Bucks Back to Long Island, September 23 & 24

PUEBLO, Colo. – Following the most successful season in its history, and a fast start to 2017, the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) will bring its Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) back to Long Island after a 12-year hiatus. NYCB Live, Home of the Nassau Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum, will play host to Buck Off the Island, presented by Cooper Tires, on Sept. 23 & 24.

The event will mark the first time PBR will appear at the Coliseum since 2005. The venue will welcome the world’s top bull riders and bovine athletes after an extensive renovation that made the Long Island arena a state-of-the-art, must-visit destination.

“With its tough-as-nails cowboys squaring off against fearsome bulls ten times their size in epic 8-second bursts of mayhem all night long, the PBR is the right sport for America right now,” PBR CEO Sean Gleason said. “PBR fans in the Northeast have been asking for a fall event, and we’re thrilled to come back to Long Island and this great building to entertain the passionate fans here like only the PBR can.”

The PBR will buck into Uniondale for a two-day event that will begin at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23 and 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24.

The reigning PBR World Champion, Cooper Davis, will competing in New York for just the second time in his career. Davis will be one of four world champions competing as he will ride alongside, two-time PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney (2013, 2015), Silvano Alves (2011, 2012, 2014), Guilherme Marchi (2008) and Mike Lee (2004). The 2016 PBR Rookie of the Year, and winner of this year’s Buck Off at the Garden event, Jess Lockwood will look to continue his winning ways in the Empire State.

The only other winner in Uniondale is 2009 PBR World Champion Kody Lostroh (2005).

CBS Sports Network will broadcast Round 2 and the championship round on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. ET. Fans can also watch each round live on PBR LIVE. The PBR Elite Seats will be made available for the second year, and are for avid bull riding fans who want a behind-the-scenes look at the world’s premier bull riding circuit. These tickets offer premium seats and the VIP experience of a lifetime, including early entry; a catered reception; 60-minute backstage tour by a PBR Host, featuring a PBR 101 presentation and a visit with the sport’s fiercest bulls; and the opportunity for photos and autographs from top PBR stars.

After the event, PBR Elite Seat holders also will be given premium dirt access, where they can get their complimentary 8 Seconds PBR program, Elite Seat lanyard and other memorabilia autographed by the Top 35 bull riders in the world.

Buck Off The Island will be the 22^nd event on the 2017 PBR BFTS schedule. The season will consist of 26 stops, traveling to such cities as Chicago, New York, Anaheim, California, and Dallas. It will climax with the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena on Nov. 1-5 when the 2017 PBR World Champion, the bull rider who earns the most world standings points during the season, will receive the coveted World Championship belt buckle and $1 million bonus.

The BFTS is televised every week on CBS, CBS Sports Network and networks around the world. BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.
