PBR Canada: Triplett Wins PBR Canada Touring Pro Division Event in Calgary

CALGARY, Alta. – Matt Triplett (Columbia Falls, Montana) earned his first PBR Canada victory of 2017 at the Global Petroleum Show stop on the PBR Canada Touring Pro Division schedule.

Triplett won Round 1 with an 85-point ride on Body Special (Outlaw Buckers Rodeo Corp). In the championship round, the current No. 8 man in the PBR world standings put up 86.5 points on Shakin’ Hands.

Overall, Triplett edged second place Edgar Durazo (Montezuma, Mexico) by a single point to claim the $2,775.03 and 60 world points. Durazo put together scores of 84 points in Round 1 on Whiskey Hand (Vold/Prescott), and 86.5 points on Mr. Sunshine in the championship round to take home $2,096.31.08 and 30 world points.

Tanner Byrne was bucked off in his return to competition.

Third on the night went to Brock Radford (DeWinton, Alberta). Radford scored 81.5 points on Gran Torino (Girletz Rodeo Stock) in Round 1, and 87 points on Case Closed (Outlaw Buckers Rodeo Corp) in the championship round. For his work, Radford earned $1,358.35 and 20 world points.

Dakota Buttar, the current top Canadian in the PBR world standings, finished in the fourth spot in Calgary. Buttar put up 83.5 points on Lace Up (Girletz Rodeo Stock) in Round 1, but was bucked off by Moves Like Pozzy (Vold/Prescott) in the final round. Coming into Wednesday, Buttar had no points in the PBR Canada National Standings, but he will leave Stampede Park with $798.77 and 15 world points.

Rounding out the Top 6 in Calgary were Cody Coverchuk (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan) and Cody Casper (Pacific, Washington) in fifth and sixth respectively. Coverchuk earned $455.42 and 10 world points, while Casper netted $297.50 and 5 world points.

The 2017 PBR Canada Touring Pro Division next heads to Wanham, Alberta, for the Wanham PBR Extravaganza on Friday June 16th starting at 7:30pm.
