PUEBLO, Colo. – This past weekend, the world’s premier bull riding series, the Professional Bull Riders (PBR), continued to show why it was named America’s fastest-growing sport (Forbes 2013). With its events in Sacramento, California, and Salt Lake City, the PBR played to sellout, and record-breaking crowds, on the same evening.
Nearly 11,000 fans filled Sleep Train Arena on Saturday for the PBR’s Sacramento Invitational, part of the elite Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) which airs on CBS and CBS Sports Network each weekend. For the second year in a row, this two-day BFTS stop produced a record-breaking performance with its ticket sales.
The PBR’s BlueDEF Velocity Tour, the feeder series for the BFTS, which is a collaboration between the PBR and AEG, Anschutz Entertainment Group, attracted almost 8,500 fans for its one-day performance Saturday at Salt Lake City’s Maverik Center. This was both a sellout crowd, and a record-breaking attendance number for the tour in Salt Lake City.
“The PBR is enjoying great momentum so far this year,” Jim Haworth, PBR Chairman and CEO, said. “Our core fan base is solid and interest seems to be growing steadily. Our Built Ford Tough Series events in Chicago, New York and Oklahoma City produced increases over their 2014 performances and Sacramento just returned yet another record breaking ticket sales performance. We’re very hopeful for what the 2015 season will bring.”
The BFTS visits Anaheim, California’s Honda Center next weekend on Feb. 6-8 for the 18th consecutive year.
The PBR’s Built Ford Tough Series is televised every week on CBS, CBS Sports Network and networks around the world. BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.
