PBR Ring of Honor Legends Return to Competition in “Unfinished Business” Pay-Per-View Event

PUEBLO, Colo. – This summer, the Professional Bull Riders’ (PBR) BlueDEF Velocity Tour (BDVT) event in Decatur, Texas, will feature PBR World Champions from the past three decades competing in a special pay-per-view format event that will take place May 30.

The pay-per-view broadcast will be comprised of three different competitions, including regular and championship round coverage of the Decatur, Texas BlueDEF Velocity Tour event, featuring the best up-and-coming riders and the elite stars from PBR’s Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS). PBR will seed the top BDVT and BFTS riders ensuring that the top riders from both series are pitted against one another.

The second portion of the broadcast is the Ring of Honor – Unfinished Business, a $160,000 winner-take-all challenge being offered to retired PBR Ring of Honor members. Four retired greats, all members of PBR’s Ring of Honor, have accepted the challenge and have decided to come out of retirement to prove they still have what it takes to ride at the highest level.J.W. “Ironman” Hart, fan favorite Ross Coleman, two-time PBR World Champion Justin McBride and 1997 PBR World Champion Michael Gaffney have all committed to ride.

“I know for a fact that none of us guys would hold together for a full season on the BFTS, but I do truly believe we all have one great one left,” said Hart, who is also the promoter of the BDVT event that weekend. “I can’t speak for them, but I will be prepared and am coming to win.”

PBR will add up to four additional Ring of Honor members if they accept the challenge.

The last segment of the broadcast is the PBR World Champion Challenge, a $20,000 winner-take-all challenge offered to current competing PBR World Champions. Five PBR World Champions have already accepted the challenge; three-time reigning PBR World Champion Silvano Alves (2011, 2012, 2014), J.B. Mauney (2013), Renato Nunes (2010), Guilherme Marchi (2008) and Mike Lee (2004). In this segment of the competition, each PBR World Champion will ride one bull with the highest-scoring rider claiming a $20,000 prize. He will then face a PBR bounty bull. If the World Champion who advances successfully rides the bounty bull, he will receive an additional $20,000 bonus. The PBR will announce the bounty bull in the coming weeks.

“This event promises to be one of the most exciting nights in bull riding history” Chief Operating Officer Sean Gleason said. “It will be a showcase of both the best young talent, and the legends of the sport competing against the best bulls the PBR has to offer. It will be the first and most likely last event to feature World Champions from all three decades that PBR has been in existence.”

This is the second PPV event the PBR has ever offered. The first took place in 2011, featuring the Last Cowboy Standing in Las Vegas.
