Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon Announces New General Manager

Pendleton, OR – A historic chapter in Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon’s history will come to an end and the next chapter begins with the announcement of the hiring of the organizations second general manager.

The Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon are pleased to announce that Erika Patton has been named as the new general manager. Erika will begin as the new general manager on April 1st after succeeding the organizations first general manager, Casey Beard after a planned retirement announcement.

Erika has an extensive business management background and a wealth of civic board participation over the last several years. Erika is currently the business manager for the Intermountain ESD and was formerly a vice president at Banner Bank. “I feel honored to have been selected to be part of this iconic organization and can’t wait to get started. I look forward to being part of its future,” said Erika. Erika lives in the Pendleton area with her husband and two children all of who are very active in rodeo.

Pendleton Round-Up President Dave O’Neill and Happy Canyon President Tanner Hawkins both believe that Erika will provide the organizations the support and background necessary to lead the two organizations well into the future. Her management and financial experience will be beneficial for the two organizations as they embark on several planned capital improvement projects, including the construction of the new retail store, ticketing and main office and the renovation of the “Crow’s Nest” announcer’s booth. She will also lend her expertise in helping Happy Canyon finish a large electrical upgrade to its facility. In addition to the planned capital improvements of both boards, the coordination and partnership with Blue Mt. Community College on the Farm II project will be an important role that the general manager will be involved representing the organization with continued community outreach and involvement to complete the campus concept improvements.

Erika will lead the organization and will provide day-to-day operational oversight to a staff of dedicated and talented Round-Up employees.

“Erika has the talent, energy and background to successfully lead our day-to-day operations and execute strategic planning necessary to navigate the rapid growth of the Pendleton Round-Up Association. It is especially rewarding to bring on somebody from our area that knows our story and is personally invested in our community. That truly is a template for success,“ said Round-Up President Dave O’Neill.

“We are sad to see such a good man like Casey Beard leave our organization, but we are also excited to see what Erika has in store for the future,” said Happy Canyon President Tanner Hawkins.

After completing a nearly five month process selection process, we are fortunate to have a quality candidate with interest in leading this organization and look forward to Erika’s leadership, management, community involvement and enthusiasm of continuing the history and progress of the Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon.
