Pete Bonds to Receive Bill King Award

FORT WORTH, TEXAS, January 5, 2017 – Pete Bonds will receive the W.A. Bill King Award for Excellence in Agriculture at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s annual Livestock Appreciation Day Luncheon on January 19, 2017. The luncheon will be held at noon in the Amon G. Carter Jr Exhibits Hall at the Will Rogers Memorial Center.

After completing the prestigious Ranch Management Program at Texas Christian University in 1973, Bonds earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree there two years later. He became active in beef industry circles serving as president of Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association from 2013 to 2016. Bond’s father, P.R. Bonds started the family’s commercial beef cattle operation near Saginaw, Texas in 1933. The enterprise expanded from Texas to the Inter-mountain West, Southeast and Midwestern United States due to Pete’s perseverance and hard work.

“Pete Bonds has reached the pinnacle of ranching in North America,” said Jessica Birge, president of the Fort Worth Farm and Ranch Club. “We’re delighted to honor this industry icon with the Bill King Award.” The W.A. “Bill” King award, bestowed annually by the organization, recognizes a business, individual, or family which has significantly contributed to agriculture or the agribusiness industry. King founded the Fort Worth Farm and Ranch Club in 1950 and served as the Stock Show’s livestock manager from 1947 to 1977.
