TACOMA, Wash. – In the PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) first time back in Tacoma since 2014, it was a local Washington cowboy who lit up the scoreboard as Grand Coulee’s Shane Proctor earned the win in the 15/15 Bucking Battle in emphatic fashion Saturday night in the Tacoma Dome. The win closed the first night of the Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) Tacoma Invitational, presented by Cooper Tires.

Proctor became the first to conquer Pearl Harbor (Dakota Rodeo/ Chad Berger/ Clay Struve/ H&C Bucking Bulls) this season to the tune of 93.5 points and end the PBR World Champion Bull contender’s vaunted buckoff streak at 14. The ride was Proctor’s highest score of the season and his first 90-point ride since 2013.

For the effort, Proctor picked up 150 points toward the world standings and $7,500.

Matt Triplett (Columbia Falls, Montana) rode his way to a second place finish in the 15/15 Bucking Battle after he turned in an 87.75-point trip aboard Tractor Tippin (Rockin I Rodeo/ Walker Roy West). Triplett earned 90 world points and after his third place finish in Saturday’s Round 1 collected a total 140 points toward the world standings and $7,500.

Joao Ricardo Vieira (Itatinga, Brazil) rode Fire & Smoke (Dakota Rodeo/ Julie Rosen/ Clay Struve/ Chad Berger) for 86.5 points to finish in third and pick up 75 world points and $4,500. Vieira also rode Loan Shark (Bar 3D Bucking Bulls/ JQH Bucking Bulls) in Round 1 to make it four straight rides since arriving in Washington, including the two he rode toward his win at last weekend’s Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour event in Yakima, Washington.

2016 PBR World Champion Cooper Davis (Jasper, Texas) rounded out the Top 4 in the 15/15 Bucking Battle after he rode Jack Daniel’s After Party (Dakota Rodeo/ Chad Berger/ Clay Struve) for 85 points.

Fans can see the 15/15 Bucking Battle on CBS starting at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 23.

Earlier in the evening, Stormy Wing (Dalhart, Texas) won Round 1 after an 88.75-point ride on Locke & Loaded (High View Cattle Co/ Jenkins Cattle Co). The round win was his first since winning the Built Ford Tough Championship Round in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and it earned him 100 points toward the world standings and $3,580.

Two-time PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney (Statesville, North Carolina) finished in second place in Round 1 and took a step toward history after riding WSM Auctioneers Like A Boss (Rocking I Rodeo Co) for 88 points. The ride was Mauney’s 597th on the BFTS and leaves him three away from joining PBR World Champions Mike Lee (Decatur, Texas) and Guilherme Marchi (Itupeva, Brazil) as the only riders to record 500 qualified rides on the PBR’s elite tour.

Mauney took home 60 world points and $3,580 for the finish, moving him to No. 2 in the world standings.

Triplett slotted into third place Saturday night after covering Red Sails In The Sunset (Dakota Rodeo/ Chad Berger/ Clay Struve/ Heald Pro Bulls) for 87 points. It was the third time this season that Triplett reached 8 seconds aboard Chad Berger’s bovine athlete and it carried him to 50 points toward the world standings and a $2,000 paycheck.

Emilio Resende (Santa Helena Do Goios, Brazil) and Cody Campbell (Summerville, Oregon) tied for fourth place after turning in matching 86.25-point rides. Resende covered Clevenger (Bar 3D Bucking Bulls) while Campbell held on to Slick Rick (Rocking I Rodeo Co) for his share of fourth. Both riders netted 35 points toward the world standings and $1,075.

The Top 35 bull riders in the world will return to the Tacoma Dome one more time for Championship Sunday of the Tacoma Invitational, presented by Cooper Tires. Each rider will face one more bull in Round 2 before the Top 15 move on to the Built Ford Tough Championship Round, where the winner will be crowned.

The Championship Sunday action will begin at 4:30 p.m. ET on PBR LIVE and the PBR LIVE app. CBS Sports Network will also broadcast Round 2 and the championship round starting at 8 p.m. ET.
