Proctor Wins in Anaheim

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Shane Proctor (Grand Coulee, Washington) claimed the victory at the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Frontier Communications Showdown, presented by Ariat, in front of a sold-out crowd Saturday night at Honda Center.

Proctor rode his way to his first Built Ford Tough Series event win since last season at Iron Cowboy in Arlington, Texas, after a 2-for-3 performance. Proctor rode Flight Plan (Dakota Rodeo / Struve / Berger/ Heald) for 85.75 points in Round 2 before being bucked off by Catfish John (Dakota Rodeo – Chad Berger/ Clay Struve/Miller) in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round. Proctor has surged in the state of California, going 4-for-8 since Sacramento last weekend.

Proctor earned 450 world points for the win and moved up to 8th place in the world standings. He also earned $32,075 over the weekend.

Rubens Barbosa (Iaciara, Brazil) finished in second place in Anaheim after his own 2-for-3 performance. Barbosa rode Tequila Sunrise (Dakota Rodeo/Julie Rosen/ Clay Struve/ Chad Berger) for 86 points in Round 2, he also went on to win the championship round with an 85.5-point ride on Cracker Breaker (D&H Cattle Co./Buck Cattle Co.).

Barbosa earned 370 world points and propelled himself up to second place in the world standings. He now trails current world leader Jess Lockwood (Volborg, Montana) by 495 points.  He also earned $25,650 for the effort.

Three-time PBR World Champion Silvano Alves (Pilar Do Sul, Brazil) finished third in southern California after a 2-for-3 performance. Alves rode Sketchy Bob (D&H Cattle Co./Flinn) for 87 points in Round 2 before being bucked off by Red Bandana (Dakota Rodeo/ Chad Berger/ Clay Struve/ Chase Base) in the championship round. Alves earned 220 points toward the world standings and $10,070.

Luis Blanco (Iacanga, Brazil) and Joao Ricardo Vieira (Itatinga, Brazil) tied for fourth place in Anaheim. Blanco went 1-for-3 including an 87.75-point ride on Sosa’s Alley Cat (JD Nix Rodeo Co.) to win Round 2, he went on to be bucked off by reigning PBR World Champion Bull SweetPro’s Bruiser (D&H Cattle Co. /Buck Cattle Co.) in the championship round. Vieira did not record a ride Saturday night, but used his Round 1-winning ride on More Big Bucks (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) on Friday to carry him to the fourth place finish.

The pair both earned 185 points toward the world standings and $8,230.

Pearl Harbor (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/H&C Bucking Bulls) was named the YETI “Bred For the Wild” Bull of the Event after tossing J.B. Mauney (Statesville, North Carolina) in 2.79 seconds in the championship round. Pearl Harbor earned a 46.5-point bull score for the out.

The Built Ford Tough Series now heads to Kansas City where the Top 35 bull riders in the world will take over the Sprint Center for the Kansas City Invitational, presented by Express Employment Professionals Feb. 11-12.
