RAM Turquoise Circuit Finals Rodeo Moving Venues

by ProRodeo.com | Jan 09, 2017

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The RAM Turquoise Circuit Finals Rodeo will have a new home starting this fall.

On Jan. 4, PRCA Commissioner Karl Stressman and Turquoise Circuit Finals Rodeo President Charlie Lewis announced the RTCFR will be held at the Prescott Valley (Ariz.) Event Center (PVEC) in 2017 and 2018. The 2017 event will take place Oct. 5-7 in PVEC’s indoor arena.

The RTCFR was held from 2006-2016 in Las Cruces, N.M., in conjunction with the Southern New Mexico State Fair, in an outdoor arena.

“We are very, very pleased to be able to be in a facility like this,” Stressman said. “This building reminds me considerably of the Thomas & Mack Center. I think it will be an outstanding venue. We think this is going to be a great opportunity and it will enhance the sport of rodeo, not only in Arizona, but New Mexico as well.”

The Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas is the home of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Polaris RANGER.

Turquoise Circuit Finals Rodeo General Manager Mary Borgen also is upbeat about the PVEC being the new home of the RTCFR.

“You can do so many things (indoors) – laser lights, there’s no weather and you can see the cowboys’ faces,” said Borgen in an online article from the Jan. 5 Prescott Daily Courier. “It’s more exciting. Indoor rodeos have a different atmosphere. It would be similar to Vegas.”

In 1975, the PRCA created a format that divides the United States into 12 geographic circuits. The circuit year-end champions and the average winners in each event qualify for the RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo in Kissimmee, Fla., each spring.
