Reese Cates Wins PBR BlueDEF Tour Event in Maine

BANGOR, Maine – Reese Cates won the Professional Bull Riders BlueDEF Tour (BDT) event in Bangor, Maine, with a total score of 259 points in front of a sold out crowd of more than 4,700 inside the Cross Insurance Center.

Cates went 3-for-3 on the weekend after riding RMEF Team Elk (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls) for 88 points in the championship round. See Cates’ winning ride here:

With the win, Cates earned 80 points toward the PBR world standings and an invitation to the Built Ford Tough Series’ Ty Murray Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on March 18-20.

In second place was Cody Rodeo Tyler with 254 points, earning 50 points toward the world standings. Robson Aragao finished third with 253.5 points and earned 30 points toward the world standings. Kade Alberty, the leader after Round 1, finished in fourth with 172.5 points and earned 20 points toward the world standings. Rounding out the Top 5 with 171 points was Michael Lane.

First and Goal (J Bar W Ranch) was the high-marked bull of the night, earning a score of 45.5 points with a 3.23-second buckoff of Dylan Madsen in Round 2.

Bangor was the 14th event of the 2016 BlueDEF Tour. The season will culminate with the 2016 BlueDEF Finals taking place Oct. 29-31 at South Point Arena in Las Vegas. The 2016 BlueDEF champion will be the rider who earns the most world points throughout the 2016 BDT season, including the BlueDEF Finals. He will receive $50,000 and qualify to compete at the $2.3 million PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals.

The BlueDEF Tour presented by Real Time Pain Relief heads to Wheeling, West Virginia, next weekend. The action from WesBanco Arena starts at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, March 18, and 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 19.
