Renato Nunes Wins Amarillo TPD

PUEBLO, Colo. –At the Koben Puckett Invitational in Amarillo, Texas, on Aug. 1, Renato Nunes (Buritama, Brazil) collected more points toward the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) world standings right before the Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) second half kicks off in Biloxi, Mississippi, this upcoming weekend.

At the Touring Pro Division (TPD) event, Nunes tallied an 85.5-point score in Round 1 before putting up 91 points, the highest score of the event, in the championship round. He won a total of $3,463.58 and earned 60 points toward the PBR world standings.

The No. 1 bull rider in the world, Joao Ricardo Vieira (Sao Jose do Rio Preto, Brazil) placed second after going 2-for-2. Vieira posted the highest ride score in Round 1 with a 90-point effort, while adding 86 points to his aggregate score in the championship round to earn 30 world points as well as $2,938.00.

The Brazilian riders continued to dominate as rookie sensation Kaique Pacheco (Itatiba, Brazil) and Valdiron de Oliveira (Palestina, Brazil) finished in third and fourth place. Pacheco was the only other rider to cover both of his bulls as he rode to 85.5 points in Round 1 and 88.5 points in the championship round. He earned 20 world points and $1,703.40. Oliveira put up an 89-point ride in Round 1 to win $1,305.94 and earn 15 world points.

Joseph McConnel (Atoka, Oklahoma) and Jake Gowdy (Bristow, Oklahoma) tied for fifth place with a ride of 87.5 points each. Each collected 7.5 world points and $738.14.

In Ft. Myers, Florida, on Aug. 1-2, Alexandre Cardozo (Indaiatuba, Brazil) continued his hot streak, as the young Brazilian won his third TPD event of the year going 2-for-2. In Round 1 he put up an 84.5-point ride, following it up with 85 points in the championship round to finish in first place with $4,345.56 and 60 world points.

Second place went to Dustin Bouquet (Houma, Louisiana) who covered his championship round bull for 89.5 points for a paycheck of $3,068.16 and 30 world points.

With his second entry of the night, Cardozo also took third place with his 87 points in the championship round, picking up 20 world points and $1,981.52. Per TPD rules, riders can entry an event as more than once and some riders have entered three or four times.

Rooster McKeeman (Lake Wales, Florida), Wagner Luciano (Coronel Fabriciano, Brazil) and Brian Courson (Winter Haven, Florida) each finished in fourth, fifth and sixth place, respectively. McKeeman posted 80 points in Round 1 for 15 world standings points and $1,470.16, Luciano notched a 73.5-point effort in Round 1 for 10 world points and $920.45, while Courson rode for 73 points in Round 1 to earn 5 world points and $549.71.

During the two-day BlueDEF Velocity Tour (BDVT) event in Big Sky, Montana, on July 30-31, Stetson Lawrence (Trenton, North Dakota), picked up the victory at the event, going 2-for-3 for 175.5 points.

Lawrence rode for 86 points in Round 1 before putting up 90 points in Round 2. He earned 80 world points along with $10,418.59.

Sean Willingham (Duluth, Georgia) finished second overall and picked up an important 50 points toward the world standings. Willingham rode for 87 points in both Round 1 and 2 to go home with $7,335.79.

Matt Triplett (Columbia Falls, Montana) was the only rider to cover his bull in the championship round with 86.5 points. The No. 2 bull rider in the world finished third overall with a 2-for-3 performance. He also rode for 87 points in Round 2 as he accumulated 30 world points and $7,335.79.

Rounding out the Top 5 was Jay Miller (Liberty, South Carolina) and Jordan Hupp (Stephenville, Texas) as each rider covered two of the three bulls they faced. Miller covered both of his bulls for 86 points apiece to land fourth place. He picked up a $2,566.90 paycheck and 20 world points.

Hupp was awarded 15 points toward the world standings and $1,849.68 with his 85 points in Round 1 and 86.5-point ride in Round 2 for fifth place.

The Touring Pro Division will have several mid-week events before finishing with two stops over the weekend. On Tuesday at the Sterling, Colorado, TPD event riders such as Bryant Osborne (Rifle, Colorado),Cody Tesch (Sneads, Florida) and Tyler Harr (Hazen, Arkansas) are expected to compete.

The very next day on Aug. 5 at the Goodland, Kansas, TPD event, Luis Blanco (Icanga, Brazil), Derek Kolbaba (Walla Walla, Washington) and Jason Malone (Pleasanton, Texas) are scheduled to ride.

In Santa Barbara, also on Aug. 5, Cody Nance (Paris, Tennessee),Douglas Duncan (Alvin, Texas) and Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Oklahoma) are some of the BFTS riders that will be in attendance.

The Touring Pro Division event in Brighton, Colorado, will round out the mid-week events as Cardozo, Harr, Kolbaba and Osborne highlight riders competing.

The two-day TPD event in Cedar Park, Texas, will welcome Cody Tyler White (Talala, Oklahoma), Malone and Harr on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 7-8.
