Resende Wins BlueDEF Tour Event in Allentown

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Emilio Resende won the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Real Time Pain Relief Showdown, presented by Frontier Communications, on Saturday night at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Resende went 3-for-3, for a total of 247 points over the weekend to take the victory. With the win, Resende moves to the top of the BlueDEF Tour standings.  He leads Derek Kolbaba by 31 points.

Resende’s weekend included a ride on Night Sweats (Thorsell Bucking Bulls) for 81 points in Round 1, Droopy (Rafter Z Rodeo) for 85 points in Round 2, and Jake Brake (J Bar W Ranch) for 81 points in the championship round.

Resende earned 80 points toward the PBR world standings and an invitation to the Built Ford Tough Series’ Rumble in The Rockies in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on September 24-25.

In second place was Brian Canter with a total score of 173 points, while Cody Rodeo Tyler (170 points), and John Vaughn (168 points) took third and fourth respectively.  Michael Lane rounded out the Top 5 with a score of 164. Canter earned 50 world standings points, while Tyler picked up 30 world standings points for the third place finish. Vaughn earned 20 world standings points for finishing fourth while Lane notched 15 world standings points for finishing fifth.

Air Bender (Rockin S Ranch/Cornwell Bucking Bulls) was the high mark bull Saturday with a score of 44.  Blue Hurricane (Thorsell Bucking Bulls), Uptown Funk (J Bar W Ranch) and Captain (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) tied for second place with 43.5 points.  Coming in fifth was X Sports Double Agent (Soggy Hill Cattle Co.) with 43 points.

Allentown was the 28^th event of the 2016 BlueDEF Tour. The season will culminate with the 2016 BlueDEF Finals taking place Oct. 29-31 at South Point Arena in Las Vegas. The 2016 BlueDEF Champion, the rider who earns the most world points throughout the 2016 BDT season including the BlueDEF Finals, will receive $50,000 and qualify to compete at the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals Nov. 2-6 down the strip at T-Mobile Arena.

The BlueDEF Tour heads to Memphis, TN, next week. The event will take place at the FedEx Forum on Tuesday, September 27, at 7 p.m. CT.
