RodeoHouston® Super Series III Winners Saddle Up for Semifinals

The RODEOHOUSTON Super Series III Champion Round was held Tuesday, March 5 for athletes to qualify for a Semifinal Round at NRG Stadium.

TIE-DOWN ROPING

Tyler Milligan rode with a face injury he got during round 2 of Super Series III. That did not stop him from taking the fastest tie-down time for the round.

Advancing to Semifinal Round:

• Tyler Milligan: Pawhuska, Oklahoma — $5,000
• Cimarron Boardman: Stephenville, Texas — $4,375
• Riley Pruitt: Gehring, Nebraska — $3,375
• Westyn Hughes: Caldwell, Texas — $3,000

BAREBACK RIDING

Steven Peebles swept the Super Series earning $9,000, however, he doesn’t let the pressure get to him.

“I try not to think about any of that [pressure],” Peebles said. “It is just me and that horse.”

Advancing to Semifinal Round:

TEAM ROPING

Matt Sherwood and Tyler Worley swept the Super Series III Championship, advancing them into the semifinals. This could be the second year in a row that the team make the Championship Round.

Advancing to Semifinal Round:

• Matt Sherwood: Pima, Arizona; and Tyler Worley: Berryville, Arkansas — $18,000
• Kolton Schmidt: Barrhead, Alberta, Canada; and Jeremy Buhler: Maricopa, Arizona — $6,000
• Bart Brunson: Terry, Mississippi; and Trace Porter: Leesville, Louisiana — $4,000
• Cory Kidd: Statesville, Nebraska; and Logan Medlin: Tatum, New Mexico — $4,000

SADDLE BRONC RIDING

Bradley Harter won Super Series III, advancing him into a Semifinal Round, and was all smiles for his qualifying ride.

“I am just having fun and have my family and friends behind me and getting on great bucking horses,” Harter said.

STEER WRESTLING

Rowdy Parrott is back in the game coming back from a knee injury he got during steer wrestling practice. He had a torn ACL and had to go through intense physical therapy.

“I did the most that I could. I rode the bike and ran as much as I could to get back as fast as I could,” Parrott said.

Advancing to Semifinal Round:

• Josh Garner: Live Oak, California — $5,000
• Jesse Brown: Baker City, Oregon — $2,750
• Dirk Tavenner: Rigby, Idaho — $2,750

BARREL RACING

Teri Bangart was feeling some pre-ride jitters because it is her first time at RODEOHOUSTON, but those quickly melted away after the first round.

“It was pretty overwhelming when you come in and realize the magnitude of the arena, I am just glad that I was able to be a part of it,” Bangart said.

Advancing to Semifinal Round:

BULL RIDING

Lon Danley toped Super Series III, with three strong rounds.

“Winning is always good, especially here in Houston,” Danley said.

Advancing to Semifinal Round:

• Lon Danley: Tularosa, New Mexico — $4,500
• Aaron Williams: Apple Valley, California — $4,000
• Wacey Finkbeiner: Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada — $3,000
• Clayton Sellars: Fruitland Park, Florida — $2,500

The top four from each event, from each Super Series will advance to a Semifinal Round. The top four from each event in the Semifinal rounds will advance to the RODEOHOUSTON Super Series Championship, Saturday, March 16. The remaining six from each event in the two semifinals will compete in the Wild Card Round, Friday, March 15, where the top two from each event will advance to the Championship. Each event champion will walk away with a $50,000 payout, in addition to previous winnings. RODEOHOUSTON includes the RODEOHOUSTON Super Shootout: North America’s Champions® presented by Crown Royal, on Saturday, March 9.
