RodeoHouston® Super Series V Winners Advance to the Semifinals

RODEOHOUSTON held the Super Series V Championship Round Tuesday, March 12 for athletes to qualify for the Super Series Semifinals at NRG Stadium.

TIE-DOWN ROPING

Cooper Martin clinched a spot in the RODEOHOUSTON Semifinals in Tie-Down Roping with three solid runs in Super Series V. Going into tomorrow’s Semifinal round, Martin said he is focused on drawing a good calf and riding a good horse.

Advancing to a Semifinal Round:

• Cooper Martin: Alma, Kansas — $6,500
• Cody Craig: Wendell, Idaho — $3,750
• Cade Swor: Chico, Texas — $3,000
• Timber Moore: Aubrey, Texas — $3,000

BAREBACK RIDING

Ty Breuer earned his spot in the Bareback Riding Semifinals after entering the final round of Super Series V in a four-way tie for the lead spot. The bareback rider said the competition was strong this year — both horses and athletes.

“I was in a tough slate of guys and was just lucky to draw good horses,” Breuer said.

Advancing to a Semifinal Round:

• Ty Breuer: Mandan, North Dakota — $6,000
• Seth Hardwick: Ranchester, Wyoming — $4,000
• Richie Champion: Dublin, Texas — $3,375
• Logan Corbett: Las Cruces, New Mexico — $3,000

TEAM ROPING

Taking the Team Roping win in Super Series V, Tyler Wade and Billie Jack Saebens advance to the Semifinals. Wade said being in Houston makes the victory even sweeter because of the magnitude of RODEOHOUSTON.

“It is a good start,” Wade said. “It is the biggest rodeo of the year and we are just glad to get a little money here.”

Advancing to a Semifinal Round:

• Tyler Wade: Terrell, Texas; and Billie Jack Saebens: Nowata, Oklahoma — $8,000
• Bubba Buckaloo: Kingston, Oklahoma; and Hunter Koch: Vernon, Texas — $7,500
• Clay Tryan: Lipan, Texas; and Travis Graves: Bluff Dale, Texas — $6,500
• Kaleb Driggers: Stephenville, Texas; and Junior Nogueira: Burleson, Texas — $6,000

SADDLE BRONC RIDING

Placing first in all three rounds of Super Series V, Ryder Wright swept the Saddle Bronc Riding and advanced to a Semifinal round. Wright said the possibility of reaching the championship and earning a championship title at RODEOHOUSTON is a rodeo athletes’ dream.

“Everybody who comes to RODEOHOUSTON wants to leave with that $50,000 and the title, so it would be really cool to leave with that too,” Wright said.

Advancing to a Semifinal Round:

• Allen Boore: Axtell, Utah — $3,500
• JJ Elshere: Hereford, South Dakota — $3,250
• Wade Sundell: Coleman, Oklahoma — $1,500

STEER WRESTLING

Placing in the top four in all three rounds of Super Series V, Bridger Chambers ended the series in the No. 1 spot and advanced to a Semifinal round. Chambers will enter the Semifinals with $5,750 in winnings.

• Bridger Chambers: Stevensville, Montana — $5,750
• Kyle Irwin: Westville, Florida — $4,000
• Tyler Pearson: Atoka, Oklahoma — $3,750
• Tanner Milan: Cochrane, Alberta, Canada — $3,750

BARREL RACING

In a close race to the top spot, Stevi Hillman won the tiebreaker to take home the Barrel Racing win in Super Series V. Hillman credited her success at RODEOHOUSTON to her horse and the electrifying atmosphere at NRG Stadium.

“My horse hasn’t run since August,” Hillman said. “It is a huge blessing to be able to come back to RODEOHOUSTON as his first rodeo back in front of such an awesome crowd.”

• Stevi Hillman: Weatherford, Texas — $6,000
• Brittany Tonozzi: Victoria, Texas — $6,000
• Nellie Williams-Miller: Cottonwood, California — $5,000
• Jackie Ganter: Abilene, Texas — $1,750

BULL RIDING

With two 84-point rides and $5,500 in winnings in Super Series V, Sage Steele Kimzey secured a coveted spot in the Bull Riding Semifinals. Kimzey said his mind is on the championship round on Saturday, but he is excited to continue to ride at RODEOHOUSTON this year.

“It feels great to come here into RODEOHOUSTON especially with it being back to a [Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association] rodeo, $50,000 goes a long way to the standings,” Kimzey said. “So, to get through the first preliminary Super Series and get into the Semifinals, it is just one step closer to where we want to be and that is the championship Saturday.”

• Sage Steele Kimzey: Salado, Texas — $5,500
• Parker Breding: Edgar, Montana — $4,000
• Cole Melancon: Sumner, Texas — $2,500
• Trey Benton: Huntsville, Texas — $2,000

The top four from each event, from each Super Series will advance to a Semifinal Round. The top four from each event in the Semifinal rounds will advance to the RODEOHOUSTON Super Series Championship, Saturday, March 16. The remaining six from each event in the two semifinals will compete in the Wild Card Round, Friday, March 15, where the top two from each event will advance to the Championship. Each event champion will walk away with a $50,000 payout, in addition to previous winnings. The RODEOHOUSTON Super Shootout: North America’s Champions® presented by Crown Royal, was held on Saturday, March 9.
