ST. LOUIS – With an 88.25-point ride during his PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) debut, Nevada Newman captured the Round 1 win of the Bass Pro Chute Out, presented by Cooper Tires, at the Scottrade Center on Friday night.

Newman covered Ante Up (K-C Bucking Bulls) to notch his first round victory, collecting 100 PBR world standings points and the event lead. It was the first bull he had ever attempted in BFTS competition.

Second place went to Gage Gay with 87.75 points atop I’m Trouble (K-C/Josey McElroy Bucking Bulls/Spark-lin Acres) for 60 world standings points, while Shane Proctor earned a third-place finish and 50 points toward the PBR world standings with his 87-point performance on Rebound (Berger Bucking Bulls).

Cooper Davis and Joao Ricardo Vieira tied for fourth place with 85.75-point rides. Davis rode Slim’s Playboy (Josie McElroy Bucking Bulls), while Vieira rode Mug Shot (Paige Stout Bucking Bulls). The pair each earned 35 points towards the world standings.

Rounding out the Top 7 were Cody Nance in sixth place with an 85.25-point ride on Spear My Gear (Paige Stout Bucking Bulls) and Stetson Lawrence, Silvano Alves and Eduardo Aparecido tying for seventh place with 85-point rides on Mouth Hug (Rocking I Rodeo Co.), Lieutenant Dan (Rocking I Rodeo Co.) and Loose Change (Rocking I Rodeo Co.), respectively. Nance earned 15 points toward the world standings while the trio of Lawrence, Alves and Aparecido each earned two points apiece.

Round 2 of the Bass Pro Chute Out takes place Saturday at 7 p.m. CT. The third PBR 15/15 Bucking Battle of the 2016 season will be held immediately following Round 2 Saturday, featuring the Top 15 riders in the world competing against the 15 highest-ranked bulls in St. Louis for an additional purse of $21,000. The bulls are randomly assigned a position from 1-15, then the riders are matched with their bulls based upon their own current rankings in the world standings. World standings bonus points will be up for grabs and count toward the season’s rankings, but will not count toward determining the winner of the Bass Pro Chute Out.

The 15/15 Bucking Battle will air on CBS Television Network on Sunday at noon ET. Fans can also watch all of the action in real time on PBR LIVE located online at www.pbr.com/live, or via the PBR LIVE app which is available for download now on Google Play and iTunes.

Bullfighters Only (BFO) and the PBR have joined forces to feature the most-talented freestyle bullfighters in the world during BFO competitions, with the third one taking place during intermission Friday at Scottrade Center.

Vinita, Oklahoma’s Evan Allard turned in the winning performance with a score of 90 points, taking home $3,000. Dusty Tuckness from Meeteetse, Wyoming, took home $1,500 with a second-place finish on his 81.5-point score, while Logan Blasdell from Prineville, Oregon, placed third with 76 points and earned $500. Highlights from the BFO competition can be seen during the PBR’s CBS Sports Network broadcast on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.

The BFTS is televised every week on CBS, CBS Sports Network and networks around the world. BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.
