ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As the lone rider to go a perfect 3-for-3 inside Boardwalk Hall, Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Oklahoma) captured his second 25th PBR: Unleash The Beast event win of the season, victorious at the Atlantic City Invitational.

After covering Livin the Life (5G Farms) for 84.5 points in Round 1 on Saturday, Dirteater continued his momentum Sunday afternoon, making the 8 aboard Sam (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) for 81 points in Round 2 to advance to the championship round second in the aggregate.

Brining the crowd to its feet, Dirteater capped his flawless performance in the Garden State with a 90.75-point ride on Cochise (Jane Clark/Gene Owen), his second 90-point score of the season.

“This is the time to step up and capitalize,” Dirteater said moments after winning the event. “We are getting close to Las Vegas, the biggest bull riding event in the world. It’s either your time or not. I’m gonna keep giving it my best.”

For his work, the 29-year-old collected a check for $34,370 and a crucial 460 world points. After beginning the event ranked No. 15, he rose to No. 13, now 2,262.5 points behind No. 1 Kaique Pacheco (Itatiba, Brazil), who failed to record a ride during the two-day event.

Cooper Davis (Buna, Texas) finished second, earning $18,200 and 355 world points. Much like Dirteater, Davis also climbed the world rankings, now No. 7 and 1,430 points behind Pacheco.

The 2016 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) World Champion’s 2-for-3 performance was backed by a monster 93.75-point ride on Smooth Operator (Dakota Rodeo/Julie Rosen/Clay Struve/Chad Berger) in the championship round, the top mark earned by any rider thus far in 2018 on the premier series.

The round-winning trip also earned Smooth Operator his second YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event honors of the season, marked 46.25 points.

Third went to Round 1 winner Marco Eguchi (Poa, Brazil).

The Brazilian rebounded Sunday afternoon after a second round buckoff of Dusty’s Revenge (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/H&C Bucking Bulls), with an 89.75-point ride on Stunt Man Ray (Broken Arrow Bucking Bulls) to capture his fifth Top-10 finish of the season on the 25th PBR: Unleash The Beast.

Eguchi leaves New Jersey with $14,380 and 330 world points.

At the elite tour’s first event in Atlantic City in 15 years, Matt Triplett (Columbia Falls, Montana) earned his best result of the season, finishing fourth to collect a check for $7,416.67 and 177.5 world points.

The 27-year-old was propelled to his second consecutive Top-10 finish via an 87.5-point ride on Beaver Creek Beau (Chad Berger/Clay Struve/PBR Rock Bar) in the championship round.

The meeting was the duo’s fifth faceoff since Triplett first attempted the bull during Round 2 of the 2014 PBR World Finals, and avenged a 5.19-second buckoff from last weekend’s event in Springfield, Missouri.

The qualified ride was Triplett’s second on the bovine athlete.

In the world standings, Triplett cracked the Top 30 for the first time this season, preparing to travel to next weekend’s event in Fairfax, Virginia ranked No. 28 in the world.

Rounding out the Top 5 was veteran rider Fabiano Vieira (Perola, Brazil).

The 36-year-old entered the championship round as the event leader, first making the 8 Saturday night on Red Rocket (Broken Arrow Bucking Bulls) for 83 points, followed by an 87.5-point, Round 2-winning ride on Clover Mountain Beau (J&C Cattle Company/Gene Owen). However, he was unable to capture his second event win of the season when his final bull, Rising Sun (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Heald Pro Bulls) sent him to the dirt in a swift 2.26 seconds.

Collecting $7,480 and 115 world points, Vieira rose one spot in the world rankings, now No. 11.

Elsewhere in the PBR, Lucas Divino (Nova Crixas Goias, Brazil) won the Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour’s Portland Chute Out in Portland, Maine. The 24-year-old was the only rider to go 3-for-3 as he rode YoYo (Rocking M) in Round 2 before conquering Gubber (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) in the championship round to earn 120 points towards the world standings along with $6,900.

With his first career win on the PBR’s expansion tour, Divino also earned an invite to 25th PBR: Unleash The Beast’s WinStar World Casino & Resort Invitational at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin Texas on September 28-29.

The 25th PBR: Unleash The Beast will next travel to Fairfax, Virginia, and EagleBank Arena for the U.S. Border Patrol Invitational. The event will be on Saturday, September 22 at 6:45 p.m. ET and Sunday, September 23 at 1:45 p.m. ET.
