San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Voted PRCA’s Large Indoor Rodeo of the Year for the 11th Consecutive Year

LAS VEGAS, NV – The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeos was awarded the 2015 Large Indoor Rodeo of the Year by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys’ Association (PRCA) at an awards ceremony last night (December 2nd ) held in conjunction with the National Finals Rodeo. The evening was introduced by saying, “tonight we celebrate the best in the world in every aspect of rodeo”.

Last night’s honor represents an extraordinary string of eleven (11) consecutive awards for the San Antonio Rodeo. The designation by the PRCA is considered the ultimate prize in the industry because nominees and winners are voted on by their peers and those associated with the sport of rodeo worldwide.

The award was received by San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo’s Executive Director & CEO Keith Martin, Chairman of the Board Joe Soules, President Cody Davenport, Immediate Past President Joe Hutchison and Executive Committee Vice President Clint Swindall.

Keith Martin, Executive Director and CEO commented “We do not take this prestigious honor for granted in light of many other outstanding PRCA rodeos in North America. We are truly astounded to receive our eleventh consecutive award. Over 6000 highly committed volunteers drive the engine of this very blessed organization from beginning to end—and they are why we succeed. Can you imagine a successful business with an amazing 6000 employees that give of their extra time and money. We are also thankful for loyal sponsors, the wonderful community of San Antonio and the great State of Texas for the many ways they get behind our event. And finally, we NEVER lose sight of why we do this—to help educate the youth of Texas.”

Just prior to the announcement, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo was acknowledged as one of the “Top 10 Must See Rodeos of 2016” in Western Horse & Gun Magazine (Dec/Jan issue), The article heralds the San Antonio event as “far more than just a great rodeo”.

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has been an innovator to the sport of rodeo by hosting rodeo’s top competitors, who this February, will vie for over $1.6 million in prize money —one of the richest payouts in the industry. The organization researches and recruits world-class animal athletes from North America’s best stock contractors and books internationally renowned performers. It also hosts one of the largest Junior Livestock Show in the nation—over 60,000 animals will come and go from the rodeo grounds over the course of the 18 day show.

The 68th annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is held on February 11– 28, 2016 at the AT&T Center/Freeman Coliseum grounds.
