Stock Show Brings “Cowboy Up” Message to Area Schoolchildren

WHAT: Cowboys and Kids program at area elementary schools: Jan. 11 – 27. The Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo is bringing an innovative learning program called Cowboys and Kids to more than 35 local elementary schools. Engaging school children through visual, auditory and hands-on methods, the Cowboys and Kids program will reach approximately 10,000 students in the Fort Worth area.

Cowboys pride themselves on honesty, work ethic and doing right by themselves and others. The term “cowboy up” is used commonly as encouragement to strive to be one’s best. Reaching youth with a message of character-building truths for today and tomorrow, the Cowboys and Kids program teaches that the cowboy of today can be anyone – rural or urban and regardless of race, sex or background – it’s anyone that believes that character counts. Cowboys and Kids urges students to cowboy up and resist the bad influences of drugs, gangs and bullying.

When / Where: Fort Worth ISD – Jan. 11, 12, 13, 24, 25, 26, 27; Aledo ISD Jan. 17 & 18; Keller ISD – Jan. 19; Birdville ISD – Jan. 20. Fort Worth Mayor, Betsy Price will participate in the assembly scheduled for Friday, January 13 at Ridglea Hills Elementary beginning at 10:40 a.m.
