For the San Antonio Stock Show Rodeo

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Feb. 25, 2015) — Just one year after winning the saddle bronc riding championship, Wade Sundell is on pace to do it all over again at the San Antonio Stock Show Rodeo.

Sundell made his first of two appearances in the first semifinals on Tuesday night in the AT&T Center. With an 87 point ride on Summit Pro Rodeo’s Big Fork, he took command of the leaderboard. The Coleman, Okla., resident earned $4,277 for that ride and now has total winnings of $7,984 here so far.

Two men moved over $8,000 in earnings by virtue of their success in the first round of semifinals one, Casey Martin and Joe Frost. Martin, from Sulphur, La., had his success in steer wrestling winning with a time of 3.7 seconds.

Frost, the reigning National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association bull riding champion scored 88 points on Diamond S Rodeo’s bull named Yes Dear. The Randlett, Utah, resident is coming off his first Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualification where he finished 2014 in second place. He and Martin each have earned $8,269 here so far.

Evan Jayne needed to earn a good check to have any hopes of advancing out of the semifinals into Saturday night’s championship finals. The native of France did just that with an 82-point ride on Harry Vold Rodeo’s Little Linda. He now is in second place in the earnings category with a total of $6,273 behind Caleb Bennett, from Tremonton, Utah who has $6,629.

All of these contestants have their second round of semifinals competition at the 10-time Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Large Indoor Rodeo of the Year on Wednesday night. At the conclusion of that rodeo, the five high-money earners in each event will make plans to be back here Saturday night to compete for the lion’s share of $1.65 million in cash and prizes.

The following are results from the San Antonio Stock Show Rodeo which features over $1.65 million in cash and prizes.
