The No. 1 and No. 2 Ranked Bull Riders Set to Duel at the South Dakota State Fair

Four South Dakota natives take on the top ranked riders at the 12th Annual Red Wilk CBR Construction Bull Bash

HURON, S.D. – Sept. 1, 2015 – PRLog — Sage Steele Kimzey, the 2014 Championship Bull Riding (CBR) and Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) World Champion, who is currently the number one ranked bull rider in the World, is headed to Huron g to take on the number two ranked rider, Brennon Eldred, and four top ranked South Dakota bull riders on the dirt in front of the Grandstands at the 130th edition of the South Dakota State Fair. All eyes are on Huron as the cowboys from the 580 Oklahoma area code roll into town for the CBR 2016 season opener, the 12th Annual Red Wilk Construction Bull Bash. You can be sure bull riding fans will be treated to two days of heart pounding nonstop action as four South Dakota natives take on the champs, eight seconds at a time.

“Sage Kimzey is a rare talent. Probably the best bull rider I have seen in 15 years, and it is a great opportunity for South Dakota fans to see such a great athlete who has accomplished so much so quickly,” said 4 time World Champion bull rider Tuff Hedeman who is back in Huron preparing for the two day event.

Eldred, an Oklahoma bull rider who according to Hedeman has matured rapidly over the last six months, was the CBR World Finals Average winner last month in Cheyenne. In addition to the Kimzey – Eldred battle, forty cowboys will be gunning for the first opportunity to put points on the national CBR leader board in an effort to claim the World Championship title from Cody Teel of Kountze, Texas who rode five for five at the 2015 CBR World Championship and pocketed a check for over $100,000, an eMax22 Gear Mahindra tractor, a custom saddle, custom Fenolgio boots, and Hy O silver Gold Buckle.

This year in addition to two World Champions in the lineup, four native South Dakota bull riders will be competing for the points and the prize monies. Twenty one year old Tanner Bothwell of Rapid City finished in the top 20 of the 2015 CBR World Standings and as a traveling partner of the two top Oklahoma cowboys, Bothwell is looking to start his sophomore year with a bang riding in front of a home state crowd in Huron.

“I am really looking forward to the CBR season, it’s all about the bull riders in the CBR, said the Rapid City bull rider who is beginning his second season riding in CBR sanctioned events. “Riding in Huron, its’ like riding in your back yard…I will have lots of my family and my sponsors with me to cheer me on and that is inspiring. The CBR treats us like family and with the great bulls they bring in, it will be an awesome event.”

South Dakota pride will no doubt raise the roof for National Finals Rodeo qualifier, Corey Maier, Timber Lake, as he looks to start the CBR season from close to home, and a warm welcome is expected for Kritter Lamb, the 2014 CBR Horizon Series Champion from White Horse, who makes his return to the CBR and Huron after suffering a broken leg in this very arena last August.

Huron is the first stop on the Mahindra Road to Cheyenne televised tour and the Red Wilk Construction Bull Bash features two evening performances, September 2nd and 3rd at 8:00 pm with the CBR Horizon event which includes a long round followed by the $10,000 Bounty bull ride of the night. The high scored rider from round one on Wednesday night will be awarded the opportunity to earn an additional $10,000 if he can make the whistle on one specific bull known as the bounty bull.

Thursday night’s lineup will follow the CBR’s revolutionary tournament style competition. The action gets underway at 8 p.m. with twenty-five bull riders doing their best to stay on for eight seconds in round one so they can advance to the semifinals. The 12 top scores ride in the semifinals with the best four advancing to a Shoot Out round where the bulk of $30,000 in prize money is paid.

Four time World Champion and CBR Ambassador Tuff Hedeman will direct the action from in front of the chutes which features three World Champions pitted against a roster that includes the top ranked bucking bulls in the country.

The competition is also part of the CBR Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge. Bull owners will bring three bulls that are featured during the first two rounds of competition.At the end of the night, the owner with the three highest-scoring bulls will receive a $20,000 check for his bulls’ performance. A total of $45,000 is awarded to the bulls and their owners.

It will take eighty bucking bulls personally selected by Tuff Hedeman, and the Evan Williams Bullfighters to power the arena action which features two days, and five rounds, of heart pounding nonstop action. CBR has become known for their action-packed performances that keep fans on the edge of their seats.
