The PBR will ride into Tucson

PUEBLO, Colorado (June 20, 2016) – For the final regular season event of its 2016 Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) season, the PBR (Professional Bull Riders), will visit Tucson Arena on Oct. 22-23 for the Cooper Tires Take the Money and Ride.

The PBR’s Top 35 bull riding stars will compete on Saturday, Oct. 22 and Sunday, Oct. 23 for their chance to win a share of the $140,000 total event purse and gain valuable points needed to move up in the ranks to become the $1 million 2016 PBR World Champion. With the 2016 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals just two weeks later in Las Vegas on Nov. 2-6, the cowboys will be holding on tight to make the 8-second buzzer.

Two-time and reigning PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney is scheduled to compete in Tucson, along with current world No. 1 Kaique Pacheco, 18-year-old phenom Jess Lockwood, young guns Derek Kolbaba, Cooper Davis, Nevada Newman and Gage Gay, and Mexico’s own Jorge Valdiviezo.

Also competing in Tucson for a chance to qualify for the World Finals are the bovine athletes. The seven bulls with the top aggregate bull scores from the 2016 BFTS season will automatically qualify for the World Finals as a World Champion Bull contender and have the chance to win $50,000.

The Cooper Tires Take the Money and Ride action begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. MT this Friday, June 24 and range in price from $15 to $102. They can be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations, online at ticketmaster.com, at the Tucson Arena Box Office or via phone at (800) 745-3000.

For an enhanced PBR experience, fans can now purchase PBR Elite Seats which provide a behind-the-scenes look into the toughest sport on dirt. This once-in-a-lifetime experience includes early entry; tickets to a premium seating section; a catered reception; a 60-minute, backstage tour by a PBR Host, featuring a PBR 101 presentation and visit with the sport’s fiercest bulls; and the opportunity for photos and autographs from the top PBR stars. After the event, PBR Elite Seat ticketholders also will be given premium dirt access, where they can get their complimentary 8 Seconds PBR program, Elite Seat lanyard and other memorabilia autographed by the Top 35 bull riders in the world.

The PBR Elite Seats are available for $250 and can only be purchased by contacting the PBR Customer Service Department at 800-732-1727.

On Saturday and Sunday, all Top 35 bull riders will ride one bull each in Rounds 1 and 2.  After Round 2 on Sunday, the two-day scores will be totaled and the competitors with the Top 15 total scores will return for the Built Ford Tough Championship Round.  Each man will ride one additional bull in the championship round. The rider who emerges from the weekend with the most PBR world standings points will be the Cooper Tires Take the Money and Ride event winner, pocketing more than $30,000.

Tucson is the 26th stop of the 2016 PBR Built Ford Tough Series. The following Saturday, Oct. 29, PBR Finals Week begins in Las Vegas with the BlueDEF Finals, the championship event for the PBR’s expansion tour, the BlueDEF Tour. It will determine the last five competitors to round out the Top 40 men who will compete in the PBR World Finals, Nov. 2-6 at T-Mobile Arena.  The opportunity to win a part of the total $2.3 million purse awaits those 40 men who qualify; and a $1 million bonus and $10,000 belt buckle will be waiting for the one who becomes the PBR World Champion.

The BFTS is televised every week on CBS, CBS Sports Network – the home of the PBR – and networks around the world.  This season the PBR on CBS has seen a 20 percent increase in viewership over the same events in 2015, according to Nielsen. BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.
