PUEBLO, Colo. – The PBR (Professional Bull Riders) has partnered with Las Vegas Centennial and the Las Vegas Elks to revive Las Vegas Helldorado Days, bringing the luster and excitement back to the event to celebrate the city of Las Vegas’ 111th birthday.
The third PBR Major, Last Cowboy Standing, part of the elite Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS), will headline Helldorado Days, taking place Friday through Sunday, May 13-15, at the Las Vegas Village. All of the ancillary events that occur during the Helldorado Days event week will return, including a downtown parade, the carnival, art show and auction, golf tournament, whiskerino contest and a PRCA-sanctioned rodeo.
The PBR will bring its world-class event production to the event, enhancing the quality of the fan experience with new bleachers, a paved venue, new and improved carnival features and PBR sponsor activations while preserving the authenticity and tradition of Helldorado Days.
Tickets are on sale now, starting at $10 for Helldorado Days Festival ground admission; $15 to $125 for Helldorado Days Rodeo tickets, including festival admission and $25 to $250 for PBR Last Cowboy Standing tickets, including festival admission. All tickets can be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com and via phone at 800-745-3000.
Las Vegas fans will also have a chance to purchase PBR Elite Seats for $250. This VIP PBR experience includes a pre-event reception, backstage tours featuring a PBR 101 presentation, meet and greets with the PBR’s exclusive entertainer Flint Rasmussen and PBR bull riders, with event seats located in a special VIP section right next to the chutes.
Helldorado Days has been a Las Vegas staple since 1934 when Clyde Zerby created the event to provide entertainment to the workers and visitors of the Hoover Dam. This festival has touched the lives of many Las Vegas residents, young and old, while also attracting visitors from around the United States who have enjoyed this iconic experience.
In 2016, the PBR will revamp and reestablish Helldorado Days by not only adding one of its signature events – PBR Major Last Cowboy Standing, featuring the world’s Top 35 bull riding stars from Brazil, Mexico, Canada, Australia and the U.S., but by also upholding the historical importance of the event to the city of Las Vegas. Bull riding is linked to a long line of rodeos vitally important to the region, which the PBR has strived to honor and respect.
As the home away from home for the PBR, Las Vegas has celebrated many PBR milestones throughout the years. Spending the last 23 consecutive years with Las Vegas as the only host of the Built Ford Tough World Finals, most of this organization’s history has taken place throughout the City of Lights. PBR now plans to add another milestone by upgrading and improving such an iconic event.
Last Cowboy Standing, included in Helldorado Days, is the last stop of the first half of the 2016 BFTS schedule and will feature the top PBR stars competing in a single elimination format event. To advance to the next round, they must make the 8-second buzzer. The cowboys will ride in round after round of competition until only one rider remains as the Last Cowboy Standing.
The 2016 Built Ford Tough Series season will conclude at the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Nov. 2-6 when the 2016 PBR World Champion, the bull rider who earns the most points during the 2016 season, will be crowned and receive the coveted World Championship belt buckle and a $1 million bonus.
The BFTS is televised every week on CBS, CBS Sports Network – the home of the PBR and networks around the world. BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.
