PUEBLO, Colo. ― Hometown hero Mike Lee (Decatur, Texas) tallied his first 91-point ride since his ride atop Super Kool Kat (Humpz & Hornz) in 2013 en route to his second consecutive PBR Touring Pro Division win as he claimed the 2014 J.W. Hart PBR Challenge event title in Decatur.

Lee’s ride on Bruiser (D&H Cattle/Buck Cattle) helped him earn $5,264.22. He last won the J.W. Hart event in 2012. Based on TPD rules, a bull rider may enter a TPD event as many times as he chooses; some riders have been known to enter two or even three times. Lee entered five times in Decatur and walked away with over $10,000 in prize money with his 91 and 88-point rides.

J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C.) used an 87-point ride on Born Sinner (Martinez Bucking Bulls) in the long round to finish third, earning $2,695.10.

Austin Meier (Kinta, Oklahoma), competing in his fourth event since the Built Ford Tough Series break, rode JT (Jerry & Aaron Halpain) for 85.5 points to finish in fourth place and earn $1,866.34. Cody Schneider (Amarillo, Texas) earned 80.5 points aboard Ferdinand (Julio Moreno Bucking Bulls), good enough for fifth place and $1,153.62.

In the biggest matchup of the night, four-time PRCA World Champion J.W. Harris (May, Texas) and Mauney, the reigning PBR World Champion, squared off with Shepherd Hills Tested (D&H Cattle Co.) and Asteroid (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo), respectively, in the winner-take-all 1,000 Miles From Home Challenge that had each rider going for $25,000.

A hyped-up Asteroid shook off Mauney two seconds into the ride, putting up his best score (46.25 points) since Round 2 of last year’s Built Ford Tough World Finals.

Harris, who was dumped by Crazy Trip (D&H Cattle Co.) in the first round of the event, took on Shepherd Hills Tested and lasted 6.17 seconds before hitting the ground.

At the Lima Potash PBR Invitational in Lima, Ohio, Dusty McMullen (Aylmer, Ontario) captured first place with 172.5 points and took home $8,708.54. He was the only rider to go 2-for-2 on the weekend. McMullen and Lachlan Richardson were tied going into the short go, but the New South Wales native was unable to cover his bull and took second place with 85 points and $4,482.34.

Ryan Dirteater (Hubert, Oklahoma), currently ranked No. 20 in the PBR world standings, picked up 84.5 points in the long round, but couldn’t cover his short-go bull and finished in third with $2,705.41. With his second entry, Dirteater tied Sean Willingham (Summerville, Georgia) with 84-points in the long round. Neither man covered his short-go bull, so they each walked away with $1,331.89 for fourth place.

At the Tonasket Shane Proctor Invitational on May 30-31, Stetson Lawrence’s (Trenton, North Dakota) 88.5-point ride was enough to give him the early lead and allowed him to take first place and win $5,074.71.

Jason Malone (Pleasanton, Texas) picked up 88 total points for second place and $3,655.21. Lane Bailey (Athena, Oregon) landed in third place with 86.5 points for $2,235.71. Dallee Mason (Caldwell, Idaho) rounded out the Top 4 with 86 points and $1,419.54.

The Professional Bull Riders Touring Pro Division will visit three cities this upcoming weekend: Asheville, North Carolina, Belt, Montana, and Phillipsburg, Kansas.

The Jeff Robinson Invitational at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center in Asheville, North Carolina, takes place on June 6-7 at 8 p.m. ET and will include Mauney, Lee and L.J. Jenkins (Porum, Oklahoma).

The Dusty Gliko Bull Riding Challenge in Belt, Montana, will feature BFTS riders Lawrence, Guytin Tsosie (Burnham, New Mexico) and John Smith (Malta, Montana). The event will take place on June 7 at 6 p.m. ET at the Belt Rodeo Grounds.

On June 7, beginning at 9 p.m. ET, the Phillipsburg PBR Touring Pro Division Event will take place in Phillipsburg, Kansas. Dirteater is scheduled to ride along with Jory Markiss (Missoula, Montana) and Meier.
