Triplett Reigns Supreme in Round 2

OKLAHOMA CITY – Matt Triplett brought the audience to its feet with his 90-point performance on American Sniper (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) to win Round 2 of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Express Employment Professionals Invitational Saturday at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. It was his second ride of the weekend, his second 90-point score of the 2015 Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) season and the fourth of his PBR career.

Much like Round 1, as Triplett settled in the chutes atop American Sniper, he watched 2013 PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney, the man with whom he tied for the win in Round 1, tally an 88-point score on Funeral Wagon (Dakota Rodeo/Berger Struve) to take the round and event aggregate lead. Unfazed, Triplett left the chutes next, turning in the highest-marked ride of the weekend to date to stand atop the aggregate with 179 points.

Triplett came into the weekend in second place in the PBR world standings, 645 world standings points behind No. 1 Silvano Alves. His performance in Rounds 1 and 2 have netted him 180 world standings points with Round 3 and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round still to take place Sunday.

Mauney, L.J. Jenkins and Chase Outlaw each produced 88-point rides to tie for second in the round and earn 50 world standings points apiece. Added to his 89-point effort in Round 1, this Round 2 performance puts Mauney in second place in the event aggregate with 177 total points.

Joao Ricardo Vieira covered Kraken (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) for 87.75 points and earned 30 world points to finish in fifth place in Round 2.

Harve Stewart rode his second bull of the weekend, Tracker (DAM Cattle Co.), into third place in the aggregate behind Mauney with 174 event points; and thanks to his 82.5-point Round 2 ride on Wagon Wheel (Triple C Bucking Bulls), Renato Nunes is in fourth place in the aggregate with 170.75 points.

Round 3 of the Express Employment Professionals Invitational, as well as the Built Ford Tough Championship Round, take place Sunday, starting at 2 p.m. CT. Tickets can be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com or by calling 800 745 3000.

CBS Sports Network will carry all of the action of both rounds at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Fans can also watch every ride live online at www.pbr.com/live.
