Matt Triplett picked up his second event win of the Built Ford Tough Series season, going 4-for-4 on the weekend and opening a 780-point lead in the world standings over second-place Silvano Alves.
Triplett was one of two riders to record a qualified ride in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round, covering Mr. Bull for 89 points to earn 150 world standings points for winning the round. He was followed in the championship round by Fabiano Vieira, who made the whistle on HoHoHo for 86 points to earn 90 world standings points.
Triplett stayed hot in Anaheim, and has now ridden 11 of the last 13 bulls he’s attempted. Triplett had previously ridden Mr. Bull for 90.5 points in Billings, Montana, in 2014.
In Round 3 earlier on Sunday, Nathan Schaper led a group of just seven riders to earn a qualified ride. Schaper covered Classic Whoppin’ for 86 points to earn 100 points toward the world standings for the round win.
Triplett continued his hot start to the season, finishing second place in Round 3 with 85.5 points on Super Cella to earn 60 world standings points. Ben Jones and Douglas Duncan covered Skid Row Joe and Do Wacka Dorespectively for 85 points to tie for third place in the round and each earn 45 world standings points.
Robson Palermo finished fifth in Round 3 with 82 points aboard Bobby to earn 30 world standings points.
Mick E Mouse was the high-marked bull of the event, earning a bull score of 47 after bucking off J.W. Harris in 2.65 seconds. That represents the best bull score of the 2015 Built Ford Tough Series.
The Built Ford Tough Series moves to St. Louis, Missouri, next weekend for the Bass Pro Chute Out, a three-day event held Feb. 13-15.
