Tyler Wins Velocity Tour Event in Oakland

OAKLAND, Calif. – Cody Rodeo Tyler captured his first Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) event victory Saturday night with a total score of 174.5 points inside Oracle Arena.

Tyler went 2-for-2 and earned $6,550 after riding Fremont Street (Julio Moreno Bucking Bulls) for 85 points in Round 1 and Cowboy Up (Julio Moreno/Dallas Schott) for 89.5 points in the championship round.

Tyler earned 80 points toward the PBR world standings for the win and an invitation to the Built Ford Tough Series’ Frontier Communications Iron Cowboy in Arlington, Texas, Feb. 18.

Reese Cates finished in second place with a total score of 174 points, while Dener Barbosa (88 points), Koal Livingston (87.5 points), and Ryan McConnel (86 points) rounded out the Top 5. Cates earned 50 points toward the world standings, while Barbosa picked up 30 world points for the third-place finish.

Livingston earned 20 points toward the world standings for finishing fourth, and McConnel notched 15 world points for finishing fifth.

The high marked bull was The Kid (Diamond Bar Cattle Company) with a score of 45 points.  The Kid earned his score when he bucked off Kyle Jones in 2 seconds in the championship round.

Oakland was the 6th event of the 2017 Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour. The Velocity Tour next heads to Denver, Colorado, Jan. 9-11. The event will take place at Denver Coliseum beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9.
