SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – L.J. Jenkins made easy work of Set ‘em up Joe Friday in front of a near-capacity crowd at JQH Arena for the PFIWestern.com Invitational presented by Bass Pro Shops. Jenkins’ 88-point score put him on top of the leaderboard after Round 1 to the delight of his hometown crowd. Jenkins attended high school in Springfield, Missouri.

Jenkins’ Round 1 win also earned him a chance at the night’s $5,000 bonus bull, BootDaddy.com. The bull had previously been ridden only twice in 16 career outs and he proved to be the better of the two athletes Friday, as well, sending Jenkins to the ground in 3.78 seconds.

Joao Ricardo Vieira, the reigning PBR Rookie of the Year, moved back atop the world standings with an 84-point ride on Cuervo. The effort put Vieira 119 points ahead of Guilherme Marchi. Vieira currently sits in fourth place for the event, while Marchi will be seeking his first qualified ride on Saturday in Round 2.
