Vieira Sweeps the Competition in Rock Springs, Texas

PUEBLO, Colo. – Some of the top riders in PBR (Professional Bull Riders) won events in the sport’s Touring Pro Division (TPD) over the extended Independence Day weekend, gaining valuable points toward the PBR World Championship race.

Fabiano Vieira dominated during both nights in Rock Springs, Texas, 2004 World Champion Mike Lee was the top rider in St. Paul, Oregon, and Chase Outlaw edged out fellow Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) rider Nathan Schaper for the win in Park Rapids, Minnesota.

Vieira (Perola, Brazil) was able to accumulate 120 points toward the world standings by going a perfect 4-for-4 to win both nights of the Slick Rock Challenge in Rock Springs. The No. 3 ranked rider in the world went 2-for-2 in both Rock Springs events, netting $9,647.41. Vieira now trails world leader Kaique Pacheco by 220.84 points in the world standings.

On day 1, Valdiron de Oliveira (Piranhas, Brazil), was the only other rider to go 2-for-2, earning $4,015.38 and 30 world standings points. Joseph McConnel (Bloomfield, New Mexico) used an 83-point ride to earn $2,441.65 and 20 world points.

On day 2, with only Vieira completing both rides, Stormy Wing (Dalhart, Texas) made the 8-second mark for 87 points and a second-place finish. Wing earned $2,799.39 and 30 world points. Keyshawn Whitehorse (Woodlands, Texas) placed third with an 83.5-point score ($1,811.37 and 20 world points), while Robson Palermo’s (Rio Blanco, Brazil) 81-point ride was good for fourth place, $1,230.18 and 15 world points.

Lee (Decatur, Texas), who earlier this year notched his 500^th ride on the BFTS tour, proved to be the Best of the West on June 30 at the St. Paul Legendary Arena in Oregon. The No. 12 ranked rider in the world standings used an 85-point ride to earn 60 points toward the world standings and $5,886.36. Cody Ford (Stanfield, Oregon) used two entry positions to notch rides of 82.5 and 80.5-points to finish in second and fourth place for a total of 45 world points and $5,547.15. Cayd Kleusner (Rigby, Idaho) finished third in St. Paul with an 82-point ride for 20 world standings points and $3,172.65.

In Park Rapids, Outlaw used rides of 78.5 and 85.5 points to propel himself to the event win on July 2. The world’s 41^st ranked rider used four entries to go 4-for-7 during the two-day event for $8,325.39 and 62.5 total world points. Schaper (Grassy Butte, North Dakota), who is ranked 35^th in the world, picked up 50 points toward the world standings and $7,526.43 by going 4-for-4 with his two entries. Brant Atwood (Pampa, Texas) went 2-for-4 in two separate entries (86.5 and 85.5) to finish behind Schaper for 25 world points and $5,199.02.

The PBR’s Touring Pro Division is the minor-league tour of the PBR, offering up-and-coming bull riders and riders not competing at the elite Built Ford Tough Series the opportunity to compete in PBR-sanctioned events alongside the biggest stars in the sport while earning points to qualify for the BFTS and the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals. The PBR Touring Pro Division will next be in action in Gonzales, Texas on July 9.
