Vieira Takes 15/15 Bucking Battle Victory in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – During the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) stop at The Broadmoor World Arena on Saturday, Fabiano Vieira turned in an impressive 90.25-point ride on Diesel (Jared Allen’s Pro Bull Team), his first since Albuquerque in 2014, to win the seventh 15/15 Bucking Battle of the season.

Vieira earned 150 world standings points for the finish.

Cooper Davis and Matt Triplett each had ride scores of 87 points in the 15/15. Davis rode Cowboy’s Dancehall’s Panda Trax (JD Nix Rodeo Co.), while Triplett covered Redbone (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve). Each earned 82.5 world standings points.

The 15/15 Bucking Battles feature the Top 15 bull riders in the world competing against the 15 highest-ranked bulls at the event for an additional purse of $21,000 and valuable bonus points toward the PBR world standings. The bulls are randomly assigned a position from 1-15 and the riders are then matched with their bulls based upon their current rankings in the BFTS standings.

All of the action of the 15/15 Bucking Battle will on CBS Television Network on Sunday, May 3, at 3 p.m. ET.

Round 1 of the PBR’s two-day Built Ford Tough Rumble in the Rockies, brought to you by your local Ford store and Sonic, also took place Saturday at The Broadmoor World Arena with Aaron Roy posting 88 points on Rusty (J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls/Gene Owen) to capture first place in the round and earn 100 event points for the finish.

The round win was Roy’s first since the Billings BFTS event in 2013. Roy made his return to the BFTS in March after missing all of last season due to a broken back he suffered at the Calgary Stampede in July 2013.

After a win last weekend in Des Moines, 2013 PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney continues to impress, riding Midnight Bender (John McDonald Bucking Bulls) for 87 points for second place in Round 1. Mauney collected 60 event points toward the world standings for the performance.

Brazilian Rubens Barbosa covered Hou’s Special (Two Pair Bucking Bulls/The Jaynes Gang) for an 86.75-point ride score, putting him in third place in Round 1. Barbosa received 50 event points for the finish.

Valdiron de Oliveira finished in fourth place with an 86.50-point ride on Closing Time (Phenon Genetics Inc./Pedone/Hayes)  earning 40 event points. Kaique Pacheco finished in fifth place with 85.75 points on Spin Machine (Jerry & Aaron Halpain) and received 30 events points.

Round 1 of the Built Ford Tough Rumble in the Rockies was also an ABBI Classic event, a competition for 3- and 4-year-old bucking bulls. Colorado Springs saw Bruiser (D&H Cattle Co./Buck Cattle Co.) and Wired Child (01 Cattle Co./JD and Susan Dunn) each earn scores of 89.25 points to become co-champions. Wired Child was sitting in fifth place in the season standings prior to tonight.

Bruiser and Wired Child each took home $5,500. In total, $20,750 was paid out to the Classic bulls.

Bruiser, who was also a stand out Classic star in 2014 as a 3-year old, has earned more than $200,000 during the course of his ABBI career. Heading into tonight’s event he led this season’s Classic standings with over $30,000 in winnings.

Round 2 and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round of the Built Ford Tough Rumble in the Rockies will take place Sunday at 1:50  p.m. MT. CBS Sports Network will broadcast both rounds of the final day of competition live at 4 p.m. ET. Fans can also watch each round of bull riding in real-time on PBR LIVE at
