Vieira Wins the Rumble in the Rockies

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Joao Ricardo Vieira went 3-for-3 to win the PBR Rumble in the Rockies, presented by Cooper Tires, this weekend at the Broadmoor World Arena.

Vieira earned the victory by riding Big Cat for 87.75 points during the Built Ford Tough Championship Round on Sunday afternoon. It was Vieira’s first Built Ford Tough Series event win of the season and it earned him 570 world points, moving him to fourth in the world standings.

Jess Lockwood (2-for-3) finished in second place after bucking off Catfish John in 7.88 seconds during the championship round. Lockwood won Round 2 earlier in the day with an 87.25-point ride on Superstition.

Lockwood is now sixth in the world standings after earning 400 world points.

Luis Blanco made the most of his trip to Colorado by coming in third place and picking up a crucial 240 points toward the world standings. Blanco went 2-for-3 and rode Scary Harry in Round 2 for 85.5 points. Blanco bucked offCochise in 1.91 seconds during the championship round.

Blanco leaves Colorado 26th in the world standings after beginning the weekend in 34th.

Mason Lowe and Ryan Dirteater tied for fourth in the event, earning 145 world points each. Lowe rode Rojo in Round 2 for 84.25 points. Dirteater carried the early lead in the event after his 87.5-point ride on Herbie Husker in Round 1, but was bucked off in Round 2 and the championship round by CRG’s Native Gangster (3.98 seconds) and Kill the Lights (2.54 seconds), respectively.

The PBR’s best now move on to Eugene, Oregon, where Matthew Knight Arena will host the Wrangler Long Live Cowboys Classic on Oct. 1-2.
