Warrant and PBR Announce Collaboration

PUEBLO, Colo. — Professional Bull Riders (PBR) is partnering with iconic band Warrant for its new “party anthem,” as well as a custom music video for PBR Bars and live concerts for PBR fans at select events. One such concert will be tonight at PBR Big Sky in Kansas City’s Power and Light District.

Warrant has recorded a foot-stomping remake of Merle Haggard’s classic, “I Think I’ll Just Stay Here and Drink,” which is also set to appear on the band’s next album Louder Harder Faster being released on Frontier Records in mid-April.

Warrant’s rousing version of the song, which was a number–one hit in October 1980 for Haggard, along with a music video featuring the band, top riders and bulls, will soon be a mainstay for PBR fans. The song will be played every night at midnight in the seven (soon to be nine) PBR Bars across the country as a clarion call for the good times to continue. The PBR-branded bars are located in Baltimore, Hampton (Virginia), Las Vegas, Kansas City, Louisville, Philadelphia, and St. Louis.  Additional PBR Bars will be opening soon in Atlanta and Norfolk, VA.

Warrant will roll out its music video for “I Think I’ll Just Stay Here and Drink” at an official kickoff party at PBR St Louis in Ballpark Village on February 25, accompanied by a live performance. The video will be shot this evening at the PBR Big Sky in Kansas City, where the band will perform the night before the Kansas City Clash Presented by Express Employment Professionals.

In addition to the Kansas City and St. Louis concerts, Warrant will perform at other stops of the Built Ford Tough Series Tour, including Nashville, Sioux Falls, and twice in Las Vegas – at Las Vegas Helldorado Days in May and the 2017 PBR World Finals in November. Additional dates will be announced as the PBR season progresses.

“PBR is the ‘loudest, fastest and hardest’ sport in the country, and we are big fans of the athletes who lay it on the line doing what they love,” says Erik Turner, Warrant’s rhythm guitarist and co-founder. “Creating a party anthem is what Warrant loves to do and getting a chance to create one for the ‘toughest sport on dirt’ is a bonus.  We’re pumped up to rock PBR Bars and events all year long.”

“The PBR was just getting started as Warrant was coming off the double platinum success of Cherry Pie, and fans have been hearing their hits at our events the past 24 years,” said Sean Gleason, CEO, PBR. “During the 2016 PBR World Finals, we were fortunate to have Warrant headline Saturday night in Toshiba Plaza, and they put on an incredible show for our fans. When we found out the members of the band are PBR fans, we jumped at the chance to work together on a custom music project and to make them a featured act during the 2017 season.”

Warrant will participate in a meet and greet with fans at the Frontier Communications Showdown in Anaheim on Saturday, February 4. The band will sign autographs and take pictures with fans from 5.30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the PBR Rewards booth, located inside the arena.

PBR’s partnership with Warrant follows a successful music and marketing collaboration with Steven Tyler who recently became the sport’s official voice with “Hold On (Won’t Let Go),” which now opens all PBR on CBS telecasts and is featured in PBR marketing. Tyler performed the song live in T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas during the 2016 PBR World Finals, and it is also featured on his latest album, “Everybody Comes from Somewhere,” which debuted at number-one on the country music charts.

Formed in 1984 in Hollywood, Calif., Warrant has sold over 10 million albums. The band first came into the national spotlight with their Double Platinum debut album Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich, with the single, “Heaven,” reaching No. 1 in Rolling Stone Hot 100 and No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
