Weekly Recap: February 25 – March 3

By Matt Naber

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Some of the biggest rodeos of the year were the driving force behind the highest scores and fastest times Feb. 25 through March 3.

Between RodeoHouston bringing $1,748,000 to the table from Feb. 25 through March 16 and the iconic Arlington, Texas, rodeo, The American, happening March 2-3, cowboys held nothing back, as evidenced by this week’s top scores and fastest times.

Although winners at The American can only count a maximum of $50,000 in winnings to their PRCA | RAM World Standings totals, it’s still one of the biggest checks ProRodeo competitors can earn in the regular season.

Bareback rider Jake Vold scored 90 points on Bailey Pro Rodeo’s Easy Money in Houston, Feb. 25.

Steer wrestler Dakota Eldridge clocked in at 3.5 seconds in Houston, Feb. 26.

Team ropers Mason Boettcher and Travis Hobbs made a 4.4-second run at the Matagorda County Fair & Rodeo in Bay City, Texas, Feb. 28.

Saddle bronc rider Ryder Wright scored 90.25 points on Northcott Macza’s Get Smart in Arlington, March 1. Wright went on to win the shootout round for $100,000, which means a $50,000 jump in the world standings.

Tie-down roper Jake Pratt made a 6.84-second run in Arlington, March 1.

Barrel racer Amanda Harris made a 12.92-second run at Rodeo Grand Island (Neb.), March 2.

Bull rider Garrett Smith scored 93 points on Hurt Rodeo’s Yellow Hair in Houston, Feb. 28.
