Weekly Recap: March 4-10

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – All the top roughstock rides of the week happened during the 91st Annual Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo, as cowboys competed for their share of $118,266 in prize money.

Between RodeoHouston bringing $1.7 million to the table Feb. 25-March 16, Arcadia running March 7-10 and Parada Del Sol offering $80,000 in Scottsdale, Ariz., March 8-10, cowboys were going hard, as evidenced by this week’s top scores and fastest times.

Bareback rider Taylor Broussard scored 88.5 points on Frontier Rodeo’s Memphis King in Arcadia, March 10.

Steer wrestler Taz Olson clocked in at 3.5 seconds at the North Dakota Winter Show in Valley City, N.D., March 10.

Two sets of team ropers made 4.5-second runs on March 9. Ric LeBlanc and Peyton Leflett made their run at the Northwest Florida Pro Rodeo & Crawfish Festival in Fort Walton Beach. Nearly 2,000 miles west, Derrick Begay and Matt Sherwood made their run in Scottsdale.

Saddle bronc rider Cody DeMoss scored 89.5 points on Frontier Rodeo’s Big Rocket in Arcadia, March 10.

Tie-down roper Luke Jeffries clocked in at 8.0 seconds in Scottsdale, March 7.

For the second week in a row, barrel racer Amanda Harris had the fastest run of the week. On March 2, she made a 12.92-second run at Rodeo Grand Island (Neb.). One week later, Harris made a 12.43-second run in Valley City, March 9.

Two bull riders made 87.5-point rides in Arcadia, March 8. Clayton Sellars made his ride on Frontier Rodeo’s Dark Moment and Daylon Swearingen rode Frontier Rodeo’s Charlie.

Steer roper Chris Glover made a 9.9-second run at the M.M. Fisher Jr. Memorial Steer Roping in Andrews, Texas, March 9.
