Weekly Recap

The stakes were high this week, as the Ellensburg (Wash.) Rodeo was the final rodeo on the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour before the Justin Finale in Puyallup, Wash., Sept. 6-9.

As the calendar flipped from August to September, there was $1,413,873 worth of PRCA action as cowboys competed at 26 rodeos across North America, Aug. 27 through Sept. 3.

The fastest times and highest scores might not always make the record book, but they make a lasting memory for fans and competitors. With about 650 PRCA competitions across the Western Hemisphere each year, there are plenty of opportunities to make a memorable ride.

Although the prize money differs from one competition to the next, the judging remains consistent across the board.

In addition to the fame that comes with winning the most prize money, each ride was a chance to be the best of the week. Here’s a look at the highest scores and fastest times for each event during that period.

Bareback rider Clayton Biglow had a 90-point ride on Sankey Pro Rodeo & Robinson Bulls’ Black Tie at the Magic Valley Stampede in Filer, Idaho, Aug. 30.

Two steer wrestlers made 3.3-second runs this week. Dirk Tavenner made his run at the Sanders County Fair & PRCA Rodeo in Plains, Mont., Aug. 31. Nick Guy made his run at the Magic Valley Stampede, Sept. 1.
