Whitehorse Wins BlueDEF Tour Event in Trenton

TRENTON, NJ – Keyshawn Whitehorse (The Woodlands, Texas) earned his second PBR (Professional Bull Riders) event win of the year after turning in the only 2-for-2 performance of the night in Trenton, New Jersey, on Saturday night.

Whitehorse started the night off at the Trenton BlueDEF Tour (BDT) event with an 88-point score aboard Butter Bean (Rafter Z Rodeo) in Round 1. He then capped the victory off with the only ride in the championship round, riding Sarge (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) for 88 points. Whitehorse took home $7,900 for the performance.

Whitehorse earned 80 points toward the PBR world standings as well as an invitation to the San Jose Invitational in San Jose, California, on Oct. 15-16. Whitehorse was on the PBR’s Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) earlier this year after he won the BDT event in Salt Lake City. Winners of each 2016 BlueDEF Tour event will be guaranteed a minimum of one opportunity to compete at a BFTS regular-season event.

Kurt Shepherd (Atherton, Australia) and Emilio Resende (Santa Helena do Goias, Brazil) tied for second place as each tallied 86 points in Round 1. Shepherd rode Splinter (Buckin’ B Cattle Co.) while Resende went 8 seconds on After Party (Triple R Bull Co,). The pair each earned 40 points towards the PBR World Standings along with $3,850.

Nathan Schaper (Grassy Butte, North Dakota) and Josh Faircloth (Randleman, North Carolina) each put up scores of 85.5 in the long round to tie for fourth place. Schaper rode Direct Deposit (Rafter Z Rodeo) while Faircloth outlasted Tex I o (Buckin’ B Cattle Co.). Each rider earned 17.5 points towards the world standings along with a paycheck of $1,570.

Sixth place was also a tie between Jake Gowdy (Bristow, Oklahoma) andJustin McCall (Hamilton, New Jersey). Each one put up 85 points on the night when Gowdy rode High Times (Rafter Z Rodeo) and McCall rode Brain Games (J Bar W Ranch). The pair earned five points towards the world standings along with $490.

Trenton was the 29th event of the 2016 BlueDEF Tour. The season will culminate with the 2016 BlueDEF Finals taking place Oct. 29-31 at South Point Arena in Las Vegas. The 2016 BlueDEF Champion, the rider who earns the most world points throughout the 2016 BDT season including the BlueDEF Finals, will receive $50,000 and qualify to compete at the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals Nov. 2-6 down the strip at T-Mobile Arena.
